    “As many people are suffering and getting poorer, there are some

    businesses and probably individuals who are taking advantage of

    the situation.” – Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle in an online

    recollection on September 8, 2022. Retrenchment (Reduction of

    costs), the one thing that prevailed against the dignity of workers.

    As I’ve been reading articles about the situation of our economy

    during the last two years, I have noticed that the principle of

    primacy of labor over capital was far from being emphasized

    though certain measures were taken by the government to support

    the Businesses at a standstill situation. The country faced a greater

    enemy and it was not just the pandemic but the disruption of jobs,

    employments and costs cuttings of some small or even big

    businesses which in someway made a halt in labor provisions.1
