Statement of purpose

Respected sir/madam,

With the assistance of this statement, I would like to communicate my desire to apply to
University of South Australia for admission to the bachelor of Engineering program, primarily in
the discipline of Civil Engineering. I have detailed my academic background, job ambitions, and
interest in research programs, as well as any pertinent material that may be required for my
visa application.

Introducing myself, I am Mr. Bisesh Pandey second son of Mr. Sesha Narayan Pandey and Ms.
Bishnu Pandey, a permanent resident of Kaligandaki-4 Birgha, Nepal. I was born on 8th January
2004.

Because my parents are well-educated and have not compromised in their support of my
studies, I am constantly encouraged to pursue my interests and inspired to attain my goals. I am
certain that I will fulfill my parents wish for me to be successful in the future. I hope that your
cosiderations will assist me in achieving my objective and will keep me motivated and
enthusiastic about that particular aim.

My Previous Academic Background and English Language Proficiency:

Regarding my academic background, I have completed my Secondary Education Examination

(SEE) from New Environment English Secondary School, Tilottama-5 with 4 GPA in year 2020
AD. After this I finished my Grade 11 and grade 12 studies at Deep Boarding High School,
Butwal-8 in the year 2022 securing 3.45 GPA with the science stream.

As I have recently passed and wanted to join bachelor level so I researched different websites
with a clear vision to pursue my study with the university which provides more practical
knowledge with a high vision towards the research field in my home country. But I was
disappointed related to my findings so I make up my mind to study from abroad university with
better facilities in my civil field with the placement in Construction and many more places. After
a long period, I finalized my decision to study at University of South Australia, Adelaide,
Australia. I found that English Proficiency test is compulsory as required from the University and
took the PTE preparation classes and prepared well. Ultimately, I took the PTE test on 12 th
September, 2022 AD and secured an overall band of 65.

Reasons for not choosing Nepal for my higher education

As my priority was my own home country, I did research about universities related to the field of civil
engineering based on more practical knowledge. As I have completed my +2 level through DEEP
BOARDING HIGH SCHOOL, Butwal-8, Nepal , I thought to pursue my further study in own home country
Nepal but I was not satisfied with the course structure and responsibility carried out by professors
towards their departments and students. I went through different universities like Kathmandu
University (https://ku.edu.np/), Purbanchal University (https://www.pusc.edu.np) and Pokhara
University (https://pu.edu.np/) and did a detailed study about my field. Unfortunately, I was unable to
find my desired enrollment course structures. Though I have consulted with seniors about the quality
related to higher-level education, most of them suggested choosing foreign land for study purposes.

Even though Nepal is heading towards advancement but our education system still follows an outdated
curriculum that does not meet the criteria for engineers to work perfectly in the field. Moreover,
students are not escalating with additional evaluations like group and individual projects, visual
presentations, workshops, seminars, e-learning, and so on. The graduates lack confidence level since
they do not get a platform to enhance their level through a few outdoor curricula. On the other hand,
numerous students in a single class with an inconvenient environment lack to acquire quality knowledge
through improper management of teaching style.

Moreover, all the courses in our country are available based on theoretical perspective which contains
memorization form just to pass the exam. Furthermore, Universities lack the modern infrastructure to
provide a required program. The degree from Nepal is not recognized in the international market and it
will be difficult to compete in this advanced era due to extremely tough competition and limited seats.

Recently due to the pandemic, Nepal was unable to continue the online classes effectively and the
education system degrade for some months due to continuous lockdown that directly hampers
students. Due to this exam was postponed and delayed in the resulting process as well as we were not
able to take part in survey activities related to our field.

Considering all these reasons, I have changed my mind about my own country and decided to study
abroad for my Bachelors degree so that I can acquire as much knowledge with some fieldwork as per my
desire and be familiar with innovations and inventions in the world.

Reasons for choosing Australia over other countries

After becoming dissatisfied with my own nation, I researched various institutions. Many foreign students
select the United States, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, and other countries. I investigated and
reviewed the above-mentioned nations' course specifics. The United States and Canada top the world
rankings of the best institutions based on a variety of factors such as research, development, foreign
student enrollment, employment rate, and so on. Furthermore, I researched a few institutions and
courses accessible in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia via various websites.
Apart from that, I spent a few weeks contacting consultants and gathering information about courses,
amenities, and prerequisites.

I discovered a reputable institution in Canada, such as the University of Alberta or the University of
British Columbia, as well as a university in the United States, such as the University of Wisconsin or
Colorado State University, that provides bachelor degree in engineering. The weather in Canada was
unsuitable for a student from a South Asian country with a humid tropical environment, such as me,
who hails from Nepal's Terai area. Similarly, Canada's hard winter does not allow for a huge number of
agricultural output days. Furthermore, my body does not like the cold weather, giving me winter rashes
and disrupting my regular routine. The United States lacks proper legislation to safeguard the rights of
international students. Aside from that, the most crucial worry for an overseas student in the United
States is safety. This is especially true for overseas students who may be unfamiliar with American
culture and safety concerns.

Furthermore, living and transportation costs in the UK are substantially greater than in Australia, and
the UK lacks suitable and flexible legislation and policies for foreign students in comparison to Australia.
However, after doing some study, I discovered that the tuition structure and course material of the
colleges and universities were both prohibitively expensive, with a sluggish curriculum. In contrast, the
weather in Australia is comparable to that of the region of Nepal where I dwell. International students
encounter several linguistic issues in nations whose institutions do not utilize English to instruct
students, such as France, China, and Germany.

Furthermore, India is a beautiful country, and Indian education is well-known around the world. There
are numerous famous universities in the area. Sharda University (https://www.sharda.ac.in/), Amity
University (https://www.amity.edu/), University of Delhi (http://www.du.ac.in/du/), and Jawaharlal
Nehru University (https://www.jnu.ac.in/main/) all offer a wide range of courses. India is significantly
less multicultural than Australia, Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom. Students come
from as few as two or three countries, including Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka, to pursue higher
education. As a student who is always eager to learn, I was looking for an international degree as well as
a global atmosphere in which I could gain cultural variety and become well-versed in all possible cultures
and traditions from across the world. As a result, I did not pursue further education in India, Pakistan, or
Bangladesh because these nations only admit students from India, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Pakistan.

The emphasis on scientific research is one of the most tempting characteristics of Australia for overseas
students. Australia, on the other hand, is a prominent global education provider with some of the
world's greatest facilities, infrastructure, and educators, offering foreign students a variety of high-
quality study opportunities. It is a vibrant nation with kind and welcoming people. Australia features
highly regarded universities, the convenience of daily living, and is a safer area to study generally.

Furthermore, Australia has regulations that provide greater assistance for foreign students, such as
Overseas Students Health Cover (OSHC). Australia also has laws that safeguard international students'
rights, such as TPS (Tuition Protection Service). Industry-based education and globally recognized
degrees in Australia can pave the way for a global professional career in the future. Graduation with an
international qualification will provide me a competitive advantage when looking for possibilities in
Nepal. Similarly, Australia encourages innovation and originality in its institutions. So, in addition to
being the finest place to acquire an education, Australia is also a fascinating place to live, with a warm,
friendly, and multicultural culture, as well as the highest quality of living in the world.
Because of the cosmopolitan aspect of Australian society, overseas students are generally accepted.
Furthermore, the crime rate is quite low, providing a safe atmosphere for overseas students. As a result,
I found Australia to be quite advantageous and successful for overseas students like myself.

Why Bachelor in Civil Engineering

I've been interested in construction and design since I was a youngster, so I'm familiar with them. So I

south Australia(UniSA), among others. I compared the various colleges based on their location, student
support system, tuition prices, course delivery method, course duration, course topics, teaching
methodology, student ratings on their websites, and other factors. Furthermore, this university offers
my preferred fields of study, such as specialized structural courses including earthquake and others, as
well as masonry engineering and cold-formed steel design. This piques my interest in studying at
Flinders order to get as much knowledge as possible while also becoming more involved in practical
aspects.

Reason for choosing Adelaide and my research on accommodation in Adelaide:

I researched numerous study places in Australia using websites such as

https://sydney.edu.au/study.html and https://studentcities.com.au. For a number of reasons, I thought
Adelaide to be the most appealing of Australia's cities, including Brisbane, Melbourne, and others. With
the hospitality given and the mild climatic conditions, I can completely meet my comfort zone there.
Adelaide has a varied range of study options as well as a range of other activities that give a unique style
of education. Adelaide boasts a comfortable climate and several world-famous sites, such as Adelaide
oval, Victoria square, Adelaide zoo, Adelaide botanic Garden, Blue lake, Sky City Adelaide, Murray river,
and many more.

Regarding my study accommodations in Adelaide, Australia, I conducted extensive research using

websites such as https://www.unilodge.com.au/student-accommodation-adelaide,
https://studyadelaide.com/why-adelaide/life-in-adelaide/accommodation, and others and discovered
that I will be able to obtain a flexible room near the station with all required facilities and arrangements
for AUD165-AUD220 per week, which is quite affordable.
My knowledge about the course

I have made deep research regarding the course to be aware of the entry requirements, intakes, course
structure, course schedule, course assessment, course duration, tuition fees, career outcomes, further
study pathways and so on.

Nepal is a growing country with numerous government initiatives, various business groups, national and
international corporations trying to uplift and provide dynamic growth to the country. As a result,
massive development effort in the field of Civil Engineering will be necessary in order to accelerate
growth. As a result, there will be a huge need for Construction and Design Experts in my home nation
both now and in the future. After completing the required course at University of South Australia, I
would like to return to my country, care for my parents, and improve Nepal's technical and economic
sectors. In our Nepali culture, it is customary for family members to stay with their parents and care for
them in their old age. So I'll have to take after my parents in their old age, as well as my family's
holdings. As a result, I must return to Nepal to care for it and fulfill my obligations to my parents and
community.

After completing my Bachelor studies at UniSA, I will have a wide range of opportunities to work with
different business groups and government projects such as Roshan Construction, Ramesh and Ravi
Nirman Sewa, Civil Aviation Ministry of Industries, and so on, because these groups are investing large
sums of money in various projects in Nepal's industries, trading, infrastructure, and energy sector. As a
result, there will be a high need for Construction and Design professionals in our country. Employers
need a Master's degree for higher-level work, which motivated me to further my studies. Whatever the
case may be, I will use my UniSA knowledge from my postgraduate studies to solve the civil engineering
challenge. I feel that the information I will get from my Bachelor Degree will assist me in obtaining a
suitable job in the Nepalese business industry. For the position of Engineer, I would be paid roughly 80-
90 thousand Nepalese rupees per month, and I will help Nepal's technical and economic sectors.

The information I gained at university will assist me in gaining experience in the field of engineering,
allowing me to pick a professional path such as Site Engineer, Design Engineer, and so on.

My Last Word

After completing my Bachelor in Civil Engineering, I feel that my studies will help me design my
profession and offer me with a solid understanding of engineering and current difficulties linked to
industry, project.

However, I want to ensure you that while living in Australia, I will abide by all of the Australian
government's regulations and laws, as well as all of the country's norms and values. I will not engage in
any criminal activity and will keep a decent reputation there. Throughout my Bachelor studies at
University of South Australia, I will maintain a solid academic record and devote myself completely to
my studies.

As a result, I respectfully urge that you examine my application to study in Australia.
