NOTE 1. THE RESULTS ARE BASED ON A GREASING POINT., WHICH IS PLACED IN THE MIDDLE OF A BEARING
HOUSE. WE CALL THIS A W33 GROOVE. IF THE GREASING POINT IS OUTSIDE THE MIDDLE (SIDE LUBRICATION)
THE CALCULATION MUST BE MULTIPLIED WITH A MULTIPLIER.
NOTE 1. For the same dimension of Ball bearing and Spherical/ Tapper roller bearing ( Width and OD are
same) but Amount of grease will be different for relubrication [ Regrease vol = 0.005 X Width X OD of a
bearing ]BECAUSE : OF Internal free space is different for both BALL and SPHERICAL/TAPPER roller bearing.

NOTE 3. Internal Free space can be calculated from Bearing dimension and mass given in the bearing data
sheet. FORMULA Is : V=[ᴨ /4 . B . ( D^2 - d ^2) . 10^-9 - G/7800 ] cubic meter

d= Bearing bore dia in mm

D= Bearing outer dia in mm
B= Bearing width in mm
G= Bearing weight in kg

NOTE 5. IN SOME EXTREMLY HIGH SPEED APPLICATION , THE LUBRICANT CAN BE AS LOW AS 10% TO 15 % OF
INTERNAL FREE SPACE
NOTE 2. Even for Same Dimension Spherical roller bearing the internal space could be different
g ( Width and OD are considering STEEL cage Vs BRASS cage.
5 X Width X OD of a
TAPPER roller bearing.

NOTE 4. Once the free space has been determined ,the required grease quantity is calculated as a p
en in the bearing data
of the available free space. Generally grease quantity in a bearing should occupy about 25% to 35
free internal space.

NOTE 6. ROUGHLY LOW SPEED REQUIRES MORE GREASE WHILE HIGH SPEED REQUIRES LESS GREAS
WHEN BEARING SPEED IS EXTREMLY LOW , ON THE OTHER HAND , GREASE MAY BE PACKED ALMOS
TO PREVENT DUST AND WATER ENTRY

OW AS 10% TO 15 % OF
l space could be different when
.

uantity is calculated as a percentage
