CHAPTER III

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY AND PROCEDURE

This chapter presents the methodological dynamics and process which will be used to

conduct the study. It includes the discussion of research design, the respondents of the study,

data sources, instrumentation and data collection, tools for data analysis and the validity and

reliability of research instrument.

Research Design

This study used a qualitative research design with the use of survey questionnaire as the

major instrument for the gathering of data. This particular method was chosen because of its

appropriateness to the problem.

The qualitative research design enables researchers to investigate and comprehend the

significance that individuals or groups attach to a social human situation. (Creswell, 2012).

The cota sampling method will be used to collect data, and the process of picking

samples will be done by selecting subjects that are not based on level or region, but on the

specific objective. (Arikunto, 2010). Respondents will receive survey forms using Google Forms

with the help of the Messenger application.

Research Respondents

The data will be gathered from related literature and related studies. The respondents of

this study is the grade 10- Bethlehem of La Salette of Roxas College Inc. There are 25

respondents out of 53 students od the grade 110 Bethlehem.

Instrumentation and Data Collection

The research instrument that will be used in the study is Survey Questionnaire. It allows

the researchers to obtain large amounts of information from a large sample of people in a

relatively cheap, quick, and efficient way (McLeod, 2018).

The structured interview is also administered which encourage the interviewers to be

flexible with the way they ask questions, the researchers used to interview the

respondents. Since, the researchers wanted to collect a reliable results, all of the interviews were

hand written notes and for survey, the researchers will use Google Forms and will be send

through the help of messenger application.

All participating students from Grade 10-Bethlehem of La Salette of Roxas College, Inc.

is savio were identified by the researchers. The researchers will give the participants an overview

of the study and supply them with the necessary information. Their involvement is purely

optional. Students will be given the option of participating or not participating in the study. The

respondents were chosen using cota sampling by the researchers.

Because of the strict guidelines to stay at home due to the pandemic, The survey

questionnaire will be sent individually by the researchers via Google Forms and Messenger, as

this is the most flexible means of gathering data with their timeframe to deliver the required

response to the researchers. Structured Interview, one -on-one interviews were used as in-depth

knowledge of the students' comprehension was required such that the interview would not take

as long and the respondent's focus would not be jeopardized by more unrelated questions for the

study, as well as to give the researcher some degree of versatility.

Tools for Data Analysis

Survey Questionnaire and Structured Interview will be used as the tools for Data

Analysis, which encourage the researchers to be creative about how the respondents answer

questions. All interviews will be recorded using handwritten notes and Google Forms to ensure

trustworthy results. Due of the strict measures in place to keep pupils safe from the pandemic,

students will be asked to stay at home.

The interview data will be analyzed using thematic content analysis. This method of

analysis included five steps: translation, testing and editing, analysis and interpretation, and

clarification (Karlsson, undated; Sarantakos, 1998).

Validity of Research Instrument

Before performing the survey questionnaires and interviews, the researchers had a

research adviser validate the questions. The testing concerns are noteworthy because the

researcher's procedures were based on a previously conducted study that was used and validated

by a professional. To minimize the impact of external factors on the outcomes, the researchers

maintained the processes as similar as feasible.
