Introduction
LESSON PLAN REVIEW: RUBRIC REFLECTION

This week, I struggled with creating a rubric to rate my lesson plan. This was my first

time creating a rubric from scratch because I am used to using pre-made rubrics included with

the curriculum I teach and simply adapting them for my special education students. My initial

research began by identifying ISTE standards corresponding to the five elements the rubric

should include. The five criteria I highlighter are functionality, accessibility, technicality,

facilitation, and promote higher-order thinking. I chose an analytical rubric to assess my

effectiveness in applying the standards and see where I needed to improve. I chose an analytical

rubric to evaluate my effectiveness in applying the standards and see where I could improve. The

tool I used is effective based on my rubric and the commentary.

Reflection on rubric

The e-learning and digital tools employed in the classroom should provide a formative

and summative evaluation. I am learning how to incorporate formal assessment opportunities

throughout the lesson through technology-based lesson planning. Using platforms or

technologies such as Kahoot, PowerPoint, iPads, and e-dictionary can help me assess my

student's understanding of a lesson by offering immediate feedback on their responses. Based on

my assessment and feedback, I employ the tool effectively. I appreciate being able to correct

errors or have an open discussion with the class if I observe that most students are struggling

with a particular topic, making reteaching easier.

My students often find technology very helpful in comprehension or understanding the

lesson by providing another outlet through games or other forms of engagement such as Kahoot!

Another reason my special education students find the technology useful as they are too shy or

intimated by other peers to participate in asking questions due to comprehension difficulty.

Using technology, they can provide answers to questions without being judged and receive

teacher feedback directly. If the majority of my students struggle with the same things in the

lesson, this insinuates that I must re-teach my lesson in better practice, and I would also take this

time to ask my student to advocate when they don't understand something. I also adjust the

assessment part of my lesson, as it is essential to leverage technology for formative and

summative assessments in students learning.

Conclusion

In conclusion, I am aware of the significance of incorporating technology into the

classroom and how it can serve as an additional form of encouragement for students with varying

needs. Complying with the American Disabilities Act (ADA) requires that all classes incorporate

all forms of technology. In constructing a valid rubric for this task, all forms of compliance,

including ISTE requirements and ADA, were considered. This task was pretty challenging

because it was my first time constructing a rubric, but I can continue to improve with practice.
