Intro

Problem: energy consumption of ph from 71-14

The discovery of electricity has bring forth countless of beneficial things to humans. From simply
lighting up homes; powering gadgets and machineries; giving life to businesses and industries; and
fueling modern vehicles are just few of the wonders it possesses. As such, with its undeniable value
coupled with the exponential population rise and economic growth, energy consumption skyrocketing is
inevitable. Given this scenario, it is necessary for power providers to anticipate the demand and supply
equilibrium as time progresses by Load Forecasting. Electric Load forecasting is a critical operation in the
power system planning business, as it has been performed to schedule electricity, management of the
power system [1], and other applications including energy purchasing and generation, load switching
and others [2].

The Philippines is an archipelagic country located in the southeast of Asia in between the Pacific
Ocean and the West Philippine Sea. It possesses a growing economy that relies on agriculture, services
and industry. Moreover, it is also exporting a chunk of electronic parts having it as the main export [3].
Aside from that, it is also popular for its world class natural wonders that attracts of a lot of travelers, be
it foreign or local. With the climbing economy, power consumption ballooned as well aiding the needs of
the industries and businesses. Figure 1 clearly illustrates the direct relationship between the two. Hence,
as it continues to rise, challenges may come across if not forecasted and taken into consideration with
corresponding actions. Hence, the study aims to forecast the power consumption of the Philippines
using regression analysis.
