In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 4 and 7 of the Indian TelegraphAct,1885(13of1885),theCentralGovernmentherebymakesthefollowing rules further to amend the Indian Wireless Telegraphs (Amateur Service) Rules,1978, namely: 1. Shorttitleandcommencement(1)TheserulesmaybecalledtheIndianWireless Telegraphs(AmateurService)AmendmentRules,2005. (2)TheyshallcomeintoforceonthedateoftheirpublicationintheOfficialGazette. 2. In the Indian Wireless Telegraphs (Amateur Service) Rules, 1978 (hereinafter referredtoasthesaidrules),forrule4,thefollowingruleshallbesubstituted,namely: 4.Categoriesoflicence:Thereshallbetwocategoriesoflicences,namely AmateurWirelessTelegraphStationLicence(General) AmateurWirelessTelegraphStationLicence(Restricted). 3. Inrule5ofthesaidrules, (a) in subrule (1), in the proviso, for the words and figure Station Licence GradeII,thewordsandbracketsStationLicence(Restricted)shallbesubstituted (b) in subrule (2), for the portion beginning with the words Notwithstanding anythingcontainedandendingwiththewords,ShortWaveListnersAmateurWireless Telegraph Station Licence:, the following words, brackets and letters shall be substituted,namely: Notwithstanding anything contained in clause (b) of subrule (1), the Central Government may grant to bonafide experimenters between the age of 12 and 18 years, Amateur Wireless Telegraph Station Licence (General) orAmateur Wireless Telegraph StationLicence(Restricted):. 4. Inrule7ofthesaidrules, (a)forclause(b),thefollowingclauseshallbesubstituted,namely: (b)suchpersonpaysthefeesonthefollowingscale,namely: (i)AmateurStationOperatorsExamination(General) Rs.100/ (ii)AmateurStationOperatorsExamination(Restricted) Rs.100/ (b)clause(c)shallbeomitted. 5. In rule 8 of the said rules, for subrule (2) the following subrule shall be substituted,namely (2)AnapplicationforlicenceinAnnexureIItotherulesshallbesubmittednotlater thanonemonthbeforethedateofdesiredexamination.

6. Forrule11ofthesaidrules,thefollowingruleshallbesubstituted,namely: 11. Period ofValidity (1) A licence granted under these rules shall be issued for a periodof20yearsorlifelongasthecasemaybecommencingonthedateofissueofthe licenceandexpiringonthelastdayofthemonthprecedingthemonthofissue. Explanation:Forthepurposesofthisrule,theexpressionlifelongmeanstill thelicenceholderattainstheageof80years. (2)Validityoflifelonglicencemaybeextendedonspecificrequestofthelicenceholder for10yearsatatimewithoutanyadditionalpayment. 7. In rule 12 of the said rules, for subrule(1), the following subrule shall be substituted,namely: (1)AlicencefeeonthefollowingscaleshallbepayabletotheCentralGovernmenton receiptofinstructionsfromthatGovernmentandinthemannerdirectedbyit: FeesinRupees Categoryoflicence (i)AmateurWirelessTelegraphStationLicence (General) (ii)AmateurWirelessTelegraphStationLicence (Restricted) 8. 20Years 1000 1000 Lifelong 2000 2000

Inrule14ofthesaidrules,insubrule(1) (a) for the words two or five years, as the case may be, the words twenty years,shallbesubstituted (b)forclause(c),thefollowingclauseshallbesubstituted,namely: (c)PaysafeeofRs.1000/ 9. Inrule15ofthesaidrules, (i)forthewordstwoyears,thewordsfiveyearsshallbesubstituted (ii)for letters and figures Rs10/, the letters and figures , Rs100/ shall be substituted 10. Inthesaidrules,intheprovisoofrule17,forthewordsrupeesfive,Rs.200/ shallbesubstituted. Intherule18ofthesaidrules,insubrule(1), (a)forclause(ii),thefollowingclauseshallbesubstitutednamely: (ii)theapplicantholdsanAmateurWirelessTelegraphStationLicence(General) (b)inclause(iii),forthelettersandfiguresRs.10/,theletterandfiguresRs.200/ shallbesubstituted. 12. Intherule20ofthesaidrules,insubrule(2),

(a)inclause(i),forthelettersandfiguresRs.10/,thelettersandfiguresRs.100/ shallbesubstituted (b)inclause(ii),forthelettersandfiguresRs.5/,thelettersandfiguresRs.100/ shallbesubstituted.
