INDIVIDUAL DIFFERENCE:

All the individuals differ from each other in many aspects. Children born of the
same parents and even the twins are not alike. This differential psychology is linked with the study of
individual differences. This changes is seen in physical forms like in height, weight, color, complexion
strength etc,. difference in intelligence, achievement, interest, attitude, aptitude, learning habits, motor
abilities, skills. Each man has a intellectual capacity through which he gains experience and learning.
Every person has the emotion of love, anger, fear, feeling of pleasure, pain. Every man has the need of
independence, success and need for acceptance.

There are various causes which are responsible in bringing individual differences. Heredity,
environment, race and nationality, sex, age, education etc. Curriculum should be designed as per the
interest, abilities and needs of different students. The teacher has to adopt a different types of methods
of teaching considering individual difference related to interest, need, etc. Some co-curricular activities
such as Drama, music, library activities (Essay & Debate Competition) should be assigned to children
according to their interest. The division of pupils into classes should not be based only on the mental or
chronological age of children but the physical, social, emotional maturity should be given due
consideration.

Teaching an Art, a Science, and a lot of Work:

Teaching is an Science, or Art.

Science:

It is a science in that there are strategies and practices that a body of research has shown to be
effective in enhancing learning. Just like a doctors, teachers should use research to inform their practice.
On the individual level teaching is a science also in that teachers are constantly collecting data by
observing their students in order to see if learning is take place and how they learn best. Like a
scientists, teachers experiment with new techniques or strategies to see how they work. Teaching is a
Science that demonstrates ways in which the teachers may employ a more logical approach to deliver
the material to the students. It is a sort of traditional way of teaching in which teachers teach their class.
An example of this cloud be a teacher lecturing their class on the topic being discussed. This type
teaching tend to be monotonous and boring and the teacher faces a harder time keeping the students
attention. However, any type of teaching needs a scientific background or base.

Art:

It is an art in that teachers must bring themselves fully into their teaching. As a teacher you will need
to find the methods and strategies that work best for you. Teachers are not a Standardized products.
What works for one teacher may not work for another. Thus, all teaching strategies that you learn
should be adopted and adapted to fit you particular teaching situation and your personal teaching style.
To be an effective teacher you must carve out your own teaching philosophy and discover your own
unique talents and learn how to use them. Teacher as an Art exhibit ways in which the teacher uses
creative ways to teach the students and so the students find it to be fun and interesting to learn. It is
alleged that even though when using the artistic methodology to teach the students, the teachers must
know the subject themselves and research the material well before they begin to teach.
