for a construction project.
3. Develop cost plan for effective management of projects
Module Tested 1, 2, 3, 4
Students are required to work in group for a construction project case study. They would be required
to find the related data to the selected project. Hence, they would work towards the development of
detailed project estimates with the help of IS 1200: Methods of measurement of building and civil
engineering works, CPWD Schedule of Rates and Analysis of Rates. The major project Report will have
30% weightage and the students will have to submit the soft copy of the same on LMS. Also, they
would work towards the development of detailed project estimates on CostX. The major project file
will have 30% weightage and the students will have to submit the same on LMS.
There will be the following submission:
1. Code Comparison PPT
2. Project Cost Planning Report
3. CostX File
The IS1200 are measurement codes which are a necessary code for understanding the measurement
practices in Indian projects, thus students shall prepare a detailed code comparison of the same with
international codes. Tabulation and Comparison of different aspects (such as deductions, mode of
measurement, inclusions and exclusions, specification, etc.) of the assigned items of work with

In continuation the students will select a case study project for which they should find the details of
the project including the good for construction drawings of the same. The project shall have built up
area more than 1.5lakh square feet. For the project the stident shall calculate the quantities using
CostX and sometime manually also, perform rate analysis according to the market rate prevailing in
the area where the project is located and calculate the project cost, Bid Price, Cash Flow Analysis, etc.
Submissions should have a clear start and a clear end. Information within submissions should also be
logical and well grouped.
4. Use of relevant work examples and/or examples gained from further reading
Suggestions for further reading are contained within the course work:
• Jha, K.N. (2011), Construction Project Management - Theory and Practice, Pearson Education,
New Delhi.
• Delhi Schedule of Rates & Delhi Analysis of Rates
• IS 1200, POMI, CESMM 4 & NRM 2
These reading lists are not exhaustive, and candidates are encouraged to read further and reference
at the end of the course work using Harvard style of referencing.
