1. Knowledge and understanding of the Course Work/Assignment

Students are required to work in group for a construction project case study. They would be required
to find the related data to the selected project. Hence, they would work towards the development of
detailed project estimates with the help of IS 1200: Methods of measurement of building and civil
engineering works, CPWD Schedule of Rates and Analysis of Rates. The major project Report will have
30% weightage and the students will have to submit the soft copy of the same on LMS. Also, they
would work towards the development of detailed project estimates on CostX. The major project file
will have 30% weightage and the students will have to submit the same on LMS.
There will be the following submission:
1. Code Comparison PPT
2. Project Cost Planning Report
3. CostX File

2. Application and analysis of the topic

The IS1200 are measurement codes which are a necessary code for understanding the measurement
practices in Indian projects, thus students shall prepare a detailed code comparison of the same with
international codes. Tabulation and Comparison of different aspects (such as deductions, mode of
measurement, inclusions and exclusions, specification, etc.) of the assigned items of work with
reference to the following codes:

In continuation the students will select a case study project for which they should find the details of
the project including the good for construction drawings of the same. The project shall have built up
area more than 1.5lakh square feet. For the project the stident shall calculate the quantities using
CostX and sometime manually also, perform rate analysis according to the market rate prevailing in
the area where the project is located and calculate the project cost, Bid Price, Cash Flow Analysis, etc.

3. The structure in terms of logic and coherence

Submissions should have a clear start and a clear end. Information within submissions should also be
logical and well grouped.

Suggestions for further reading are contained within the course work:

These reading lists are not exhaustive, and candidates are encouraged to read further and reference
at the end of the course work using Harvard style of referencing.

1. Plagiarism is a serious offence. In case of any plagiarism detected, penalty will be imposed leading
to zero mark.

This assignment designed to be submitted in groups.


Assignment description
This project has 30% weightage on theory and lab assessment each. The aim of the course work is to
develop student’s ability to prepare cost management plan for construction project.
The students shall form subgroup. They shall choose and work on any completed or upcoming
construction project. The project shall be first proposed by the students and shall be approved by the
respective faculty.
The students are expected to collect & analyze information related to the approved project. They shall
design a cost management plan for the project as per the assignment structure.
Assignment Submission: The assignment is to be submitted in MS-word/MS - excel format via LMS on
or before 11th week of the semester.
Kindly note that the submission would be subjected to plagiarism check as per the institution’s policy.
Any submission failing to meet the plagiarism guidelines would not be accepted.
Only one submission per group needs to be submitted at each stage.
