Earthmoving Equipment Pre-Mobilisation Checklist


This checklist must be completed by the equipment owner (e.g. Select, supplier, supply chain) and submitted to the Select Hire
Desk (or LOR for supply chain) for acceptance prior to mobilising to site. A hard copy of this completed checklist along with
associated paperwork (detailed below) must travel with the equipment to site for verification and approval by Laing O’Rourke

Falling Object Protection (FOPS) fitted and certified

Fire extinguisher minimum 4.5kg (class ABE) and tested and tagged within 6 months.

identification decal on door
Flashing amber beacon visible from 360 degrees
Reverse / travel / slewing alarm (beep or squawk as per client requirements)
Overhead power line signage affixed in cabin, where applicable
Lockable battery isolation switch c/w identification decal
Emergency stop (with decal) easily and safely accessible from outside plant

Guarding (lockable door and/or limit switch and/or guarding over parts)
Safety signage in place for SWL, pinch points, warnings, emergency etc.
Fully automatic, double locking hydraulic quick hitch fitted (excavators, backhoes,
integrated tool carriers)
For Excavators 3 tonne or less Automatic Double locking Manual acting type of hitches
are acceptable.
Handrails on upper decks where personnel access is required
Safe access onto machines (three points of contact)
Seatbelt fitted and in good condition
UHF radio fitted and operational
Wheel chocks with carrying mounts (for rubber tyred equipment)
Where fitted, fire suppression operable from ground and cabin
