Name: Score: Grade and section: Date: Performance Task #2 Tracking a tropical evelome Objectives: After performing this activity, you should be able to: 4. Determine if your location is in the path of a tropical cyclone, given the latitude and longitude position and 2. Explain why PAGASA regularly monitors when a tropical cyclone is within PAR. Materials Needed: map with the PAR tracking data pencil Procedure: 1. Use the latitude and longitude (lat-long) in the table below to track the location of Yolanda. Plot each lat-ong pair on the map with the PAR Super typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) Date : Time Lat Lon ‘Storm Type iov/03/2013 06:00 | 64 | 156.0 ‘Tropical Depression ov/03/2013, 12:00) 64 | 154.3 Tropical Depression jov/03/2013| 18:00 | 64 | 152.7 [Tropical Depression ero 60 | 1516 [Tropical Storm fov/04/2013 06:00 | 60 | 150.2 Tropical Storm fov/04/2013| 12:00 | 61 | 148.3 Tropical Storm jov/04/2013 18:00 | 6S | 147.3 [Tropical Storm iov/05/2013| 00:00 | 64 145.9 ‘Typhoon fov/05/2013 06:00 | 64 | 1445 [Typhoon iov/05/2013 12:00 | 68 | 143.0 Typhoon fov/05/2013| 18:00 | 7.1 141.2 Typhoon fov/06/2013| 00:00 | 74 139.6 Super Typhoon eraDTS te 7.6 | 138.0 Super Typhoon iov/06/2013 12:00 | 7.9 | 1362 Super Typhoon jov/06/2013 18:00 | 82 134.4 Super Typhoon jov/07/2013 00:00 | 86 | 1328 Super Typhoon jov/07/2013| 06:00 | 9.3 | 131.1 Super Typhoon fov/07/2013 12:00 | 102 | 129.1 Super Typhoon io7/201d 18:00 | 106 | 127.0 Super Typhoon fov/08/2013, 00:00 | 110 | 1248 Super Typhoon jov/08/2013) 06:00 | 114 | 122.6 Super Typhoon jov/08/2013) 12:00 | 118 | 120.6 Super Typhoon sian 18:00 | 124 | 1181 Typhoon jov/09/2013) 00:00 | 123 | 116.2 [Typhoon jov/09/2013, 06:00 | 135 | 1148 [Typhoon jov/09/2013 12:00 | 145 | 1132 [Typhoon io ans 18:00) 155 | 1114 ‘Typhoon jov/10/2013 00:00 | 163 | 110.2 [Typhoon jov/10/2013| 06:00 | 17.8 | 109.0 [Typhoon fov/10/2013 12:00 | 193 | 108.1 Typhoon or tp/201g 18:00 | 205 | 107.3 Typhoon jov/11/2013) 00:00 | 218 | 107.2 [Tropical Storm Q3. Where did Yolanda form? Q4. When did Yolanda enter the PAR? Q5. When did Yolanda leave the PAR? Q6. In what direction did Yolanda move? *Yolanda started out in the Pacific as an area of low pressure. Because it was just a low- pressure area, it was not given a name. Then it intensified into a tropical depression. Again it was not yet given a name because it was still outside the PAR. When it finally entered the PAR, ithad already strengthened into a super typhoon. Since it was within the PAR by then, PAGASA gave it a name— Yolanda — from its prepared list. Internationally, the super typhoon was called Haiyan
