    Shah Alam II, Shuja-Ud-Daula, and Mir Qasim formed an alliance that the British soldiers

    decimated on October 22, 1764. The victory for the British troops, which Major Hector Munro
    supervised, was significantly influenced by Robert Clive. The English gained power in the
    North after the Buxar battle, when they took over the Mughal dominion and the province of
    Awadh.

    In order to aid the army, Mir Qasim handed the English jurisdiction over the Midnapore,
    Burdwan, and Chittagong areas. Following the Battle of Buxar in 1764, English traders were
    given permission to conduct duty-free trade. There was still a 2% duty on only salt.

    Once Mir Jafar passed away, his younger son Najimud-Daula ascended to the throne. Yet,
