OBJECTIVE

 To replace the existing environment monitoring system with Hawkeye 2.0 data centre monitoring system.

 Hawkeye 2.0 shall monitor all the currently monitored active metrics with digital dry contact interface.

 Hawkeye 2.0 shall monitor all the currently monitored active metrics with MODBUS High Level Interface of which
interfacing information available.
 Hawkeye 2.0 shall monitored newly replaced equipment such as UPS and PAC.
IMPLEMENTATION SCHEDULE
THE CONCEPT OF IMPLEMENTATION
 The Hawkeye 2.0 take over process shall be gradually performed where the Hawkeye system shall be running in
parallel with the existing GE EMS monitoring system in the same network segment.
 The Hawkeye 2.0 system shall be operational as priority before any physical hardware replacement mentioned
below.
 New controllers and gateways hardware shall be IP based that operating within the same network segment as the
existing GE EMS system at Tower Block. The IP addresses assignment shall be agreeable by the network team to
avoid clashes.
 The interfacing cable (digital inputs and analogue inputs) shall be transferred gradually to new controllers.
 The High level interfacing (RS485, MODBUS RTU Protocol) shall be transferred to new gateways once the register
map has been confirmed and their functionality are verified.
 For those high level interface equipment without MODBUS register map information and unable to verify at site, the
monitoring will be remain with the GE monitoring system until they are being replaced eventually.

The Key of concept is to minimize the impact to operation as much as possible during the implementation. However,
occasional device offline will be inevitable during the replacement process.
CONCERNS AND LIMITATIONS
 There are existing controllers in CT4 Level 2 monitoring breaker statuses for UPS-SB-1 and UPS SB-2 that are
network connected but not monitored in GE monitoring system. Hawkeye 2.0 implementation will rectify it.
 There are existing controllers in CT4 Level 2 monitoring STS that are offline and but not monitored in GE monitoring
system. Hence, Hawkeye 2.0 will not monitor the existing STS.
 The PAC readings and statuses found to be stagnant even they are being disconnected during the cable tracing
event. Hawkeye 2.0 implementation will rectify this issue.
 Tower Block Level 8 PDU outgoings are monitored via CTs with raw current readings. The calculations of power
consumption, energy consumptions and load percentages are done in the GE monitoring system. With some budget
allocation, there are better product to improve in terms of accuracy. Hawkeye shall monitor the current
consumptions and calculate the load percentage.
 There are EPO switches located at CT4 level 2 EMS panel. There are risk of triggering them during the controller
replacement works. There are no wiring information, design drawings at site for reference.
 All the UPS at site are old units. There are neither MODBUS register information available at site nor from the
internet. We also unable to trace the settings from existing GE system. The UPS shall be continue monitored by GE
system until they are being replaced.
PHASE 1 – TOWER BLOCK

 This Phase 1 consists of Hawkeye 2.0 implementation for:

a) Tower block level 8

b) Container Gate 1 UPS

c) Main Gate UPS

d) Container Gate 2 UPS

PHASE 1: TOWER BLOCK (TB); LEVEL 8 DATA CENTRE
 Task 1: Setup of Hawkeye server
1. The servers (Application server and Database server) shall be readily setup with Hawkeye 2.0 application and tested prior
to delivery to site.
2. Both servers shall be installed in TB Level 8 data centre in flowing rack location:

3. The servers will be connected to the network (network connection ports to be advise by networking team).
4. The servers shall be set with IP addresses based on networking team advise.
PHASE 1: TOWER BLOCK (TB); LEVEL 8 DATA CENTRE
 Task 2: Replacement of Controllers
1. The Existing EMS controllers (EasyIO 30P) were located inside the PDU-A and PDU-B compartments. They shall be replaced one by one. The
same procedures below are applicable for both PDU-A and PDU-B board.
2. Turn off the circuit breaker of incoming power source to the EMS power supply unit inside the compartment.
3. Modify the 24VDC power source with additional DIN Rail mounted terminal blocks for better cable management and expansion needs.
4. Install the new Hawkeye controllers and gateways inside the same compartment within the free space available. Setup the controllers with IP
address according to design.
PHASE 1: TOWER BLOCK (TB); LEVEL 8 DATA CENTRE
 Task 2: Replacement of Controllers (continue)
5. Disconnect power supply to the existing controller that interfacing cables (AI and DI) need to be diverted. Note that the power to controller
MUST be off prior to any physical work.
6. Gradually disconnect the interfacing cables from existing controller and re-terminate them to the new Hawkeye controller one at a time.
Continue perform the similar step for next existing controller.
7. Gradually transfer the RS485 two wires communication for high-level interfacing to new Hawkeye Gateways.
8. For those MODBUS equipment that without register mapping information, the RS485 shall remain with the existing controller and they shall
remain online.
9. Connect all New controllers to the network.
10. Turn on the power of new controllers and ping the new IP addresses for connectivity verification.

11. Signal verification test can be done with Hawkeye System.

PHASE 1: CONTAINER GATE 1 UPS ROOM
 Task 3: Integration of UPS
1. The Existing EMS controllers (EasyIO 30P) is inside the UPS unit.
2. There are no MODBUS register information available from site or internet.
3. The monitoring of Container Gate 1 UPS shall be from GE monitoring system until the correct MODBUS register map information available.
4. Once the register map are confirmed, database and graphic page shall be configured at site for the UPS.
5. The existing controller will be replaced by opening the UPS front and side covers for accessing the bottom compartment of UPS.
6. The existing EasyIO controller shall be replaced with Hawkeye Gateway.

Note:
 The replacement work shall only commence after the specific UPS MODBUS register map is determined.
PHASE 1: CONTAINER GATE 2 UPS ROOM
 Task 4: Integration of UPS
1. The Existing EMS controllers (EasyIO 30P) is inside the UPS unit.
2. There are no MODBUS register information available from site or internet.

RISKS AND MITIGATIONS

Item Risks Mitigations

network connectivity and IP address assignment. Should clashes happened, the IP addresses can be alter with
subsequent modification at database level which we trying to avoid.
2 False alarms triggered during the implementation. The stake holders will be informed prior to any work commencement and
notify during completion each day.
3 Power Tripping due to the installation work. Isolate or turn off the incoming source of equipment that involving
dismantling, cable termination, cable management or continuity test.
4 Lost of communication of existing EMS equipment. The lost of communication during the new implementation is inevitable.
However, we shall minimize the risk with installation by stages (1
controller after another)
5. EPO switches at CT4 level 2 – a risk of triggering as both The EPO switch circuitry and single line diagram is required. Extra careful
