THE BROWN BEAR

I have chosen the brown bear, because it’s a beautiful and interesting animal.
I think that it’s fascinating, that it is so strong and dangerous, and at the
same time it looks so cute.

Where do they live?

The brown bear lives in Europe, Asia and North America.

In Scandinavia the brown bear lives in Sweden, Norway and Finland.
In Russia the brown bear is most prevalent.

What do they eat?

The brown bear eats grass, herbs, berries, fish, bird eggs and honey.
It also eats reindeers and moose

When do they go into hibernation?

The brown bear goes to hibernation from November to March.

It sleeps in a cave, but before it goes into hibernation, it eats a lot of food so
that it can deal with a long period without food.

How many cubs do they get?

The brown bear breeds every third year.

It gets between 2 and 4 cubs.

Is it an endangered species?

The brown bear is a predator, and that’s why it’s a potential risk for the
human beings. It has been hunted for many years.
The brown bear is almost eradicated in West and Central Europe.
