Throughout the past ten years, both the number of people using smartphones and mobile networking

technology has grown significantly. The younger generation, which is digital savvy, has made smart
phones an essential component of their lives. Smart phones offer the essential function of
communication, but they also offer a wide range of other services, such as apps for socializing,
entertainment, internet use, and payments. One such application included in smart phones for payment
services is the mobile wallet.

Mobile wallets make it quick and straightforward to transfer money and make on-time payments, which
may be advantageous for many users, particularly college students. College students sometimes find it
difficult to pay their tuition, cafeteria tabs, or book expenses. It is especially true for individuals who are
away from home, for whom it presents an additional burden to get money from parents on time. Mobile
wallets are a convenient way to make payments, but their uptake is still not very high. So, it is important
to identify the variables that affect people's intentions to embrace such technologies.

The Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology 2 (UTAUT2), a technology model that
describes users' intentions to utilize technology and their use behavior, is used in this study to identify
the elements that may impact the intention of mobile wallet usage. There are relatively few studies that
address this, particularly among college students, so it is also determined how these characteristics
would affect behavioral intentions towards the use of mobile wallets. Consequently, the purpose of this
study is to ascertain the connection and influence between behavioral intention to use mobile wallets
and the variables of the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology 2 (UTAUT2).

The history of behavioral intention and adaptation of mobile wallets among students is filled
with evidence and experience supporting the evolution. However, the existing body of
knowledge exhibit that there are many studies has been conducted on mobile wallet usage
determinants and intentions with respect to privacy, speed, accessibility, security, content,
design, ease of use, perceived usefulness, confrontation and trust. There are only some studies
has given importance to explore the influencers of mobile wallet users’ behavioral intention.
There is gap to examine the influence of performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social
influence and perceived security on behavioral intentions.
