Service management and material management are two distinct concepts, although they are
both essential for efficient business operations.

1. Service management :
It refers to the processes and activities involved in designing, delivering, managing, and
improving services that meet the needs and expectations of customers. This includes
managing the entire lifecycle of services, from service strategy and design to service
operation and continual improvement. Service management focuses on the delivery of
intangible services, such as consulting, and customer service.

2. Material management :
It refers to the processes and activities involved in the acquisition, storage, handling,
and use of materials and supplies needed for the production or delivery of goods and
services. Material management includes inventory management, purchasing,
transportation, warehousing, and logistics management. Material management
focuses on the delivery of tangible goods, such as raw materials, components, and
finished products.
3. The main differences between service management and materials
