I knew that my true calling was still out there waiting for me. I started working in Hospitality doing different jobs. I worked for an on-call company that used to subcontract waiters/waitresses for breakfast and events for chain hotels. I knew then that I wanted to be in that environment and t h a t I w a n t e d t o p u r s u e H o s p i t a l i t y. I have never experienced something like it before. It just felt right! After two years at the Front Desk, I just wanted to keep growing in the industry and working on myself but u n f o r t u n a t e l y, I j u s t c o u l d n ’ t d o s o t h e r e . I t w a s t i m e t o m o v e a g a i n ! I d e c i d e d t o c o m e t o t h e states and pursue my hotel management bachelor but something that really scared me was: Leadership. For the past 4 years I have been working on bettering myself and developing some skills with m y H T M c l a s s e s t h a t H AV E a l l o w e d m e t o b e c o m e a b e t t e r v e r s i o n o f m y s e l f a n d h o p e f u l l y b e able to accomplish a management role. Some of the projects that we have worked on have been challenging because trying to get everyone on the same page has not always been easy as well as learning how to manage my time and how to prioritize tasks. I can confidently say that I have grown at a personal and professional level. The past year at the Omni has helped me come out of my shell, even though I love to talk, I can be very shy; sometimes I have doubted my English skills, being able to work in front of the house has helped me improve my confidence. Leadership is about improving oneself and using those skills to help others achieve their potential.
