COURSE SYLLABUS

Course Title: Field Study 2- Participation and Teaching


Assistantship
Course Code: Educ 12
Course Credits 3 units
Independent Study: All professional subjects and major subjects
Placements: BEED/BSED 4th Year, First Semester
Course This course is a continuation of Field Study 1.
Description: It is school based and allows a pre-service
student to participate and assist in a limited
actual teaching-learning activity that relate to
assessment of learning, preparation of
instructional materials, preparation of the
bulletin boards, and other routines in the
classroom, a portfolio which will contain
sample lesson or learning plans and
demonstration teaching of at least one
subject content area will be required. An
action research will also be made to conclude
during the internship.
Program Outcomes 1. Demonstrate in depth understanding of
the diversity of learners in various
learning areas.

2. Manifest meaningful and


comprehensive pedagogical content
knowledge (PCK) of the different subject
areas.

3. Utilize appropriate assessment and


evaluation tools to measure learning
outcomes.

4. Manifest skills in communication, higher


order thinking and use of tools and
technology to accelerate learning and
teaching.

5. Demonstrate positive attributes of a


model teacher, both as an individual
and as a professional development.
6. Manifest a desire to continuously pursue
personal and professional development.
Course Outcome At the end of the course the students
should be able to:
1. Reflect on the different theories on
learning and knowledge acquisition
2. Identify the teaching methods and
strategies utilized by the teacher.
3. Develop learning activities and design
instructional materials that promote
cognitive and metacognitive processes,
positive motivational processes,
developmental dimensions in learning,
socio-cultural dimensions of learning,
and utilization of diversity as a resource
for learning.
