FOREWORD

First of all, the writer would like to express gratitude to Allah SWT, because by His grace and grace
the title Effects of Long-Term Smoking on Teachers and Employees can be completed on time. one of the
requirements to fulfill the task of Mr. Wiwit Hendra Asmara, English teacher of the Pekanbaru State
Forestry Vocational School, the writer also thanks for all his guidance to complete it.

In completing this paper, the writer faced many obstacles, but with the help of many parties, all these
problems can be resolved. May Allah SWT bless them. Hopefully this thesis can make a positive
contribution to the development of education or for those who want to do further research.

CHAPTER I
INTRODUCTION

I.1. Background of The Research


Smoking is a habit of smoking cigarettes in everyday life, is a necessity that cannot be avoided
for people who have a tendency to smoke. Cigarette is one of the addictive ingredients which means it
can cause dependency on the user. The addictive nature of cigarettes comes from nicotine which it
contains. After someone inhales cigarette smoke, within 7 seconds nicotine will reach the brain. The
dangers of smoking are well known, but there are still many teenagers who are active smokers.
Smoking habits are generally carried out in during adolescence, the habit is as much as 47% in
adolescents aged 11-15 years is the male population, while 12% is the female population.

In the long term, smoking can put you at increased risk for various oral cancers, including
mouth cancer, tongue cancer, esophageal cancer, and throat cancer. More than 93% of throat cancer
cases are caused by smoking.

1. What are the effects of smoking?
2. How to reduce smoking among employees?
CHAPTER II
RESEARCH METHOD

Method is an important factor in a study. Research systematics must be in accordance


with established procedures. This is so that the results of the research are real results and can be
justified

A. Type of Research

The first step in research methodology is to determine the type of research. The type of
research used in this report is field research. This study aims to determine the impact given to
schools by smoking teachers and coaches at Forestry Vocational Schools in Pekanbaru.

B. Research Location

This research was conducted at the Pekanbaru Forestry vocational school. Considering
choosing this location should make it easier for writers currently based in the same location.

C. Data Source

As for data sources, the writers obtained them from interviews with supervisors and
employees at the Pekanbaru Forestry Vocational School..

D. Data Collection Method


Researchers used several data collection methods, such as interviews. The interview
method aims as an approach to get information from someone with a communication.
E. Data Proessing Method
The data processing method describes the data processing and analysis procedures in
accordance with the approach taken.
F. Data Analysis

The last is data analysis. After all the data has been collected, the researcher draws
conclusions based on the right theory
CHAPTER III
DISCUSSION
3.1 Effects of smoking according to employees in Forestry Vocational School of Pekanbaru
According to research that the writer has done on teachers and employees at Forestry Vocational
School of Pekanbaru, cigarettes have a lot of impact on health. The impacts of smoking are numerous, it
can be both short-term and long-term impacts. Here the writer will describe what are the impacts caused
by smoking:

a. Short-term impact
1. Increased blood pressure
2. Cough
3. Hair, clothes, body smell
4. Yellowing of teeth
b. Long-term impact
1. Decreased brain performance
2. Lung cancer
3. Oral cancer

The impact of smoking is very much, in addition to the things above, cigarettes can also cause
addiction and dependence. For this reason, the writer hopes that in the future teachers and employees can
reduce the use and use of cigarettes in the Forestry Vocational School of Pekanbaru environment.

3.2 How to reduce cigarettes among employees in Forestry Vocational School of Pekanbaru
Discussing the impact of smoking has had many impacts, therefore the author can see how
important cigarettes are for employees at Forestry Vocational School of Pekanbaru. For this reason, there
are many ways that can be done so that employees can reduce cigarette use. Here's how employees can
reduce cigarette use:

1. Fostering awareness that teachers are a real example for students


2. Schools can make smoking regulations in the school environment
3. Exercise frequently
4. Fill in the gaps in time for positivity
5. Replacing cigarette habits with other things, such as sweets or snacks

From the description above, it is hoped that in the future employees at SMK can reduce or even
stop smoking activities in the school environment and wherever they are. The main reason in this case is
that employees are directly involved in each student's daily activities, it is quite possible for students to
make employee smoking activities to be modeled, therefore if the school wants to reduce the number of
student violations caused by cigarettes, the first answer is to stop the employee's smoking activities first.
CHAPTER IV
CONCLUTION
From the results of the research that the author conducted, it can be concluded that smoking
activities among in Forestry Vocational School of Pekanbaru employees are very much, this is a very
worrying thing because students can do the same thing because they follow a more mature example. In
addition, smoking can also cause a lot of negative impacts. The impact of smoking can be short-term such
as coughing and body odor, as well as cigarettes causing long-term effects, namely cancer and others.
There are many ways that employees can do to stop cigarette addiction behavior, so that activities at
Forestry Vocational School of Pekanbaru also run smoothly.
