Nowadays, sports and games are becoming popular all over the world as they keep people

fit and healthy. Sports and games are important because they give people health, discipline,
self-controlling, sporting spirit and cooperative mind. Sport helps people in many ways. It helps
us to reduce our stress and makes our mind relax. It also keeps our body in shape and healthy.
Moreover, it also teaches us to be more social. There are many different kinds of sports such as
individual sports which are golf, swimming and team sports such as football and volleyball.
Most of them are physical sports and there are also some mental sports such as chess and
scrabble. There are a variety of sports but they all aim at making people healthy and active.
People started doing sports a long time ago, the Olympic games were held about 3,000
years ago in Greece. The tradition has been revived in modern and people celebrate Olympic
games once every 4 years worldwide. The main purpose of Olympic is to raise the peoples’
awareness of sport and to cooperate with nations all around the world.
Sports has been familiar to us since we were young. We had to do some basic physical
sport such as jumping, running and stretching since we were in kindergarten. Physical sports
are very necessary for all ages. Some physical sports such as football, basketball, volleyball and
tennis can strengthen our bones and help us grow faster. For middle age, it keeps them in
shape and makes them healthier. For adult, doing sports can protect them from some adult
diseases such as obesity. Physical sports help our muscles development and make us healthy by
increasing our Oxygen intake. Moreover, it can also reduce our stress and depression and make
our mind refresh.
As I have mentioned, there are also some mental sports such as chess, scrabble and
checkers, etc. These mental sports help our mind to be active and intelligent because it helps
our brain cells development. It also improves the abilities of thinking, concentrations and focus.
One of another benefit of playing sports is becoming more social and cooperative. Being
cooperative is an important life skill which we need every day.
In conclusion, sports are good for both physical and mental health but it is important not
to overwork them. After working out, we need to take a rest. If not, our bodies can suffer
physical injuries. We need to stretch after working out.
