Survey rate

The survey rate is the rate at which a survey is conducted or completed. It is usually
expressed as a percentage of the total number of people or households that were surveyed,
divided by the total number of people or households that were eligible to be surveyed.
Survey rate is calculated by dividing the number of surveys completed by the number of
surveys sent out.
In this research “Willingness to speak in English among Malaysian university in Sarawak,”
questionnaires are shared to 50 respondents and only 49 respondents are managed to
complete the survey. Therefore,

× 100=98 %

The survey rate is 98%. A good survey response rate depends on the type of survey and the
population you are targeting. Generally, a response rate of at least 10-15% is considered
acceptable, though higher response rates are preferable. Survey response rate is very
important because it determines how accurate the survey results are. If the response rate is
low, it can lead to inaccurate results that do not reflect the opinions of the survey population.
Additionally, low response rates can lead to a lack of statistical power which can lead to
inaccurate conclusions and reduce the validity of the survey results.
