Roles of Women in WWII
Roles of Women in WWII
Housewives in WWII
Nursing isn’t the only job that women occupied but many people, rather than going into other fields,
would still stay at home and look after the children. Cooking, cleaning, and praying for their husbands to
come home safe. The Housewife.
Housewives were expected to take on civil defense activities, filling in where they could for the men who
had gone to war, in addition to being required to protect the home front. They would learn air aid activities
and learn to serve as an air warden as well as working in defense plants, volunteering for war-related
organizations, while still of course managing their households.
