Developers planning to renovate
the 70,000-square-foot Allen Building
property, at 200 East Commercial Street
in downtown Lebanon, reached another
milestone Monday with the first walk-
through by the Capstone Development
Group and contractors.
“We had our first walkthrough today
with the contractor to kind of get on site
and just get some eyeballs on it,” ex-
plained Capstone Development Group
owner Bill Luchini. “You see it in the set
of plans but there’s no substitute for being
out here.”
The building is now owned by Allen
Lofts, LP, a subsidiary of St. Louis-based
Capstone Development Group. The de-
veloper took ownership of the property
earlier in November after working with
the previous owner - the Trustees for the
Citizens of Lebanon - to complete the
closing transaction.
“We were hoping to get going a year
or a year and a half ago but the COVID
thing kind of shut everybody down
and disrupted the entire industry,” he
explained. “The construction industry is
just now coming back full-swing. We’re
hoping to close by the end of the year or
in January.”
As part of the initial project plans, the
City of Lebanon began removing a sin-
gle-story portion of the building ahead
of the sale that will be converted into
new parking space as part of the overall
construction efforts. 
“We’ll generate bids from this walk-
through and get our contract going with
the contractor. Then we’ll start to plan the
closing and hopefully the next 60 days
or so we’ll get moving,” added Luchini.
Once completed, the project will bring
new housing options to the downtown
area in the form of approximately 50 new
units that will mostly be loft apartments.
Nearly 5,000 square feet will be allocated
for commercial development within the
building as well.
“We are excited to see this project mov-
ing forward for the betterment of down-
town Lebanon,” said Mike Schumacher,
Lebanon city administrator.
“This is a prime example of positive
collaboration between multiple partners
including the City of Lebanon, Trustees
for the Citizens of Lebanon, Lebanon
Regional Economic Development, Inc.,
and Allen Lofts, LP, on a long-term in-
vestment for our community.”

in 1966, Bohannon enlisted
and served in the US Army
until 1970. His four years
of service included a tour
of duty in Vietnam and an
assignment in Washington,
D.C. After his discharge
in 1970, he remained in
Washington and worked at
News Talk WTOP-AM and
WWRC-AM, and Easy Lis-
tening WGAY-FM.
In 1980, he moved to
Chicago for a morning drive
spot at WCFL-FM and a
Chicago bureau reporter
position at CNN.
In 1981, he secured the
role of principal back-up
host for The Larry King
S h o w. B o h a n n o n b e g a n
hosting his own Saturday
evening call-in show in 1984
on the Mutual Broadcasting
System. Westwood One pur-
chased Mutual in 1985. In
1993, Westwood One moved
Larry King to an afternoon
slot and offered him his own
show in King’s late evening
spot. The Jim Bohannon
Show made its debut on
Jan. 29, 1993 and met with
immediate ratings success.
He retired on Oct. 14 due to
his health.
In addition to the Jim Bo-
hannon Show, he also hosted
Westwood One’s America
in the Morning news show
for over 31 years before
stepping down in December
2015.
He was inducted into the
National Radio Hall of Fame
in 2003 and was voted one
of “The 100 Most Important
Radio Talk Show Hosts in
America’’ numerous times
by Talkers Magazine. He
was the 2013 recipient of
the publication’s presti-
gious Lifetime Achievement
Award.
Bohannon and his wife,
Annabelle (Arnold) went to
high school together in Leb-
anon but didn’t see each oth-
er again for 33 years. They
