    If the farmers could not pay the nobles would take their land, tyrants seized power, they
    were popular because of how the nobles treated the citizens.
    2. Sparta because it was inland and harder to get to by ship.
    3. Both situations there is unjust on farmers one has them not equal with others and the
    other has enslaved farmers.
    4. The women had more freedom than other women in other city-states and the men
    depended on the women to raise them to be strong warriors.
    5. Athens: education, citizenship, independence / sparta: strength, obedience, loyalty
    6. Solon: gave citizens a say in the government / peisistratus: made non landowner citizens
    / cleisthenes: council members were chosen by lottery instead of election because that
    gave poor people a chance.
