Design Example

• Design a ladder diagram for a motorized pump level control system that will run
on start-stop control.

The system has a normally closed (NC) thermal overload switch that will open
when the pump overheats and a normally closed (NC) float switch that opens
when the desired level is achieved. The pump should run only when the level is
low and the motor is not overheating.

Design Example
• Design a ladder diagram for a motorized pump level control system that will run
on start-stop control.

The system has a normally closed (NC) thermal overload switch that will open
when the pump overheats. Two normally closed (NC) float switches are used for
high level and low level detection. The pump will run when the low level float
switch is closed and will continue until the upper level float switch is opened.

Design Example:

 A convectional oven, that uses start-stop control, has a blower motor

that runs only when the oven door is closed (NC limit switch- door closed).
There is also a heating element that turns on only when the thermal limit
of a (NC) thermostat is not exceeded. The system should run only when
the start button is pressed. Design a relay ladder logic circuit and a PLC
ladder diagram for this system.
