This Evening and Tonight: Many southern aréas will be cloudy with further rain and drizzle in places, whilst heavy showers over Scotland move south into northern Englandi!t's likely to be drier in the northwest with isolated showers. For the weekend: Rain in eastern and some southern parts will clear to leave a day of sunshine and some patchy showers. These will be heaviest across northern, central and eastern England where there will also be a risk of hail and thunder. The outlook for the week ahead: Fine, dry and settled throughout in the south, but rain in'the north slowly spreading southeast on Monday and Tuesday. It will become increasingly warm, especially in the south, but expect some chilly overnighttemperatures at first. The long-range forecast: Throughout the majority of this period, it will predominantly be dry and settled for many areas, especially in the south of the UK. More unsettled conditions with spells of rain and brisk winds may affect the north and northwest at times. These unsettled conditions could spread to other parts of the UK later in this period, but widespread unsettled conditions are unlikely. Temperatures are forecast to be mostly around the seasonal average, although it may become warm for a time in the south and perhaps very warm in the southeast. Towards the end of the period, conditions may start to trend towards more generally settled weather for most areas, but with the possibility of the occasional bout of wetter weather and some fresh winds.
