Queen Liliuokalani
Queen Liliuokalani
The queen took the throne in 1877, after her brother had passed
away and she was also Kalakaua’s regent during the kings world
tour. She organized schools for Hawaii's youth.
In 1891, the powers of the Hawaiian monarchy were lost to the higher
business men. As queen, She wrote a friendly protest letter stating
that she would want to be able to restore the power and she would
like to come to a compromise so her fellow people will be able to do
what they will. Although this went on for many years, it ended in 1898
when they became Hawaii.
In her years, she has written a lot of songs such as “Aloha Oe” which
became Hawaii’s national anthem. She has been inspired by nature
and a couple's love. As in the Time of finding her own true love of
John Owen Dominus.
