Scott John V. Esguerra

Purok 7, Brgy. Villa Bota
Gumaca, Quezon

Honorable Mayor Webster D. Letargo

39 M H Del Pilar, Municipal Hall
Gumaca, Quezon

Dear Mayor Letargo,

I, Scott John V. Esguerra, a 4th-year college student currently studying at Polytechnic
University of the Philippines (PUP) of Sta. Mesa, Manila am sending you a letter to
address my request for me and my family for financial assistance for my stay in Manila
for four days starting November 7 and the graduation ceremony that will be held on
November 10 at the University Gymnasium of PUP Main Branch.

I am taking a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering degree at this university. It

has been quite an experience for me to study away from my home before the pandemic
hit our country. I became independent and live by myself with the support coming from
the DOST-SEI scholarship. This scholarship solely pays for my rent, utilities, and other
expenses because my family in the first place is financially incapable of supporting my
needs to be able for me to continuously live in Manila.

I stayed in Manila for almost two years until the end of the first semester in my second
year when we were forced to go back to our respective homes when the pandemic
began to arise. Almost half of my college years were spent in an online class. Despite
having to stay at home to continue my studies, it did not lessen the expenses due to me
having to invest in a personal computer that is suited for online classes and for our
monthly internet bill which my family cannot afford. It is all thanks to my DOST
scholarship that I am able to get by and continue my studies.

The second semester of my last school year at PUP has already ended and I am now
preparing for graduation. I would likely have to stay in Manila for about four days
starting November 7 since this is the day to pay and claim for my rented toga and the
other date is for the event rehearsals. This time also is the end of the contract of my
DOST-SEI scholarship, so they are not giving me anymore an allowance. I graduated
with flying colors this year as cum laude. So, I hope you consider my request for this
given opportunity, for me to get a chance to get up on stage and make my family proud.

Thank you for your prompt attention. Godbless.

Sincerely,

Scott John V. Esguerra
