I believe in the arts and crafts industry, as an artisan I know I can gain access to new
markets and customers, which can lead to economic empowerment for my community.
There are no initiatives to promote the arts and crafts industry, which has led to a decrease
in jobs and decreased income for artisans. Moreover, the arts and crafts industry can also
create opportunities for women and other marginalized groups who may face barriers to
entering the formal economy. By providing them with the necessary skills and resources. I
can create quality products that appeal to global markets, which can lead to increased
income and economic empowerment for our nation.

In many communities, artisans lack access to training and resources that can help them
improve their skills and create products that meet international standards. However, in
December 2022 I was trained and cultivated by Akwande Crafters by providing me with the
necessary training and resources, to develop my skills and create quality products that can
compete in global markets.

There are no organizations that provide training and resources to women artisans, to
develop their skills and create products that can bring income to communities like mine. This
has not only led to decreased income for the artisans but has also depleted the culture and
heritage on a national scale.

Empowering artisans through the arts and crafts industry can also lead to greater cultural
preservation and community development. In many developing communities, traditional arts
and crafts are at risk of being lost due to the influence of globalization and modernization.
However, by empowering artisans and promoting the arts and crafts industry, these
traditional arts and crafts can be preserved and passed down to future generations.
