NOTE
1.Class C environment (poor): In the environment close to pollution sources and oceans, outdoor cabinets
with heat exchangers or air conditioners must be used to effectively isolate the device environment from the
atmosphere environment close to oceans or pollution sources. In the outdoor environment far away from
pollution sources and oceans, outdoor cabinets, especially those with heat exchangers or air
conditioners, must be used to improve security. Direct-ventilation cabinets can be used in this environment,
with ATN devices being installed far away from the air intake vents of the cabinets.)
2.Class B environment (common): In an indoor environment, network cabinets can be used to minimize
humidity risks. The measures applicable to a Class C environment can be used for a Class B
environment, but the measures applicable to a Class B environment cannot be used for a Class C
environment.

Precautions

NOTE
This document provides simple and distinctive guidelines for quick hardware installation of the ATN
905&910C&950B&950C&980B.
Based on the height of a device, the ATN 910C-A&910C-B&910C-D&910C-F&910C-G are
considered 1 U devices, and the ATN 950B&950C are considered 2 U devices, and the ATN 980B is
considered 3.5 U device. 1 U = 44.45 mm (1.75 in.)
As the installation methods are similar, the fixed ATN910C-A is used as an example for the 1 U
device, the board-inserted ATN 950B is used as an example for the 2 U device, and the board-
inserted ATN 980C is used as an example for the 3.5 U device. The installation differences are
specially described in this document.
This document does not describe pre-delivery assembly. This document only describes procedures
for onsite installation.

CAUTION

Electrostatic Discharge
Wear ESD gloves or Antistatic Wrist Strap prior to contact
with the equipment or before handling the plug-boards,
boards, and IC chips to prevent damage to sensitive
components caused by electrostatic discharge from the
human body.

CAUTION

Bundling cables

Binding intervals between cable ties or optical fiber binding straps inside the cabinet cannot exceed
250 mm.

CAUTION

Pre-Installation Check

Verify that the equipment room, power supply, ground cables and optical cables are ready for installation.
Start the installation according to the engineering design documents after confirming that conditions are
met. Refer to the Installation Guide for information about specific operational requirements and technical
specifications.

Introduction to AC/DC power system

AC/DC power system (ETP4830-4815AF power system)

When an ATN device requires DC power but only the AC power module is available, use the ETP4830-
4815AF to convert the AC power to DC power.

Pin assignment of a monitoring cable

•Connect the device to the ETP4830-4815AF power system with a monitoring cable, which is a standard non-shielded
network cable, so that the NMS can detect the working status of the power system.

•Connect one end of a monitoring cable to the TOD port or the CLK0/TOD0 port on the device and the other end to an
RJ45 port on the monitoring module of the ETP4830-4815AF power system.

10
AC/DC power system (ETP4830-4815AF power system)

•To ensure that the power supply of the equipment is not interrupted, you can also connect the device to batteries. Then, if
the mains supply is interrupted, the device can be powered by batteries.

•A storage battery array consists of four 12 V -40 Ah storage batteries. The dimensions of each storage battery are 197
mm (W) x 165 mm (D) x 170 mm (H).

•The positive and negative of the ATN are connected to the negative and positive of the ETP4830-4815AF respectively,
and the positive and negative of the storage battery are connected to the positive and negative of the ETP4830-4815AF
respectively.

•The BOM number of the power cable for the ETP4830-4815AF is 04042957. Use the power cable (BOM number:
04042957) to connect the ATN 950B and ETP4830-4815AF for example.
(1) One end of the power cable (BOM number 04042957) has 4 pins. Connect this end to the output interface of load on
the right of the ETP4830-4815AF.
(2) Remove the red-and-black power terminal (BOM number 14180253) of the ATN 950B power cable.
(3) Insert the other end of the power cable (BOM number 04042957) into the red-and-black power terminal (BOM number
14180253) and connect this terminal to the power interface of the ATN 950B.

3 Cable connections in the external AC/DC power supply scenario
NOTE
•Before installing cables, use a marker to mark the two ends so that the two ends of one cable can easily
match each other.
•You must prepare cables according to actual cable routes during the installation.
•A connector has been made at one end for a 10 m long ground cable before shipment. On site, tailor the
cable and make an M6 connector at the other end, as required.
•Attach engineering labels to both ends of each cable after the cable is installed.
•During equipment installation, bundle power cables if they are too long.
Cable Installation Process
1. Install ground cable for the IMB network cabinet. Then install ground cable for the
ETP4830-4815AF power device and ATN equipment.
2. Install external power cables for the ETP4830-4815AF power device.
3. Install power cables between the ETP4830-4815AF power device and ATN
equipment.
4. Install E1 cables.

Installation Checklist

No. Item

1 The position for each piece of equipment conforms to the engineering design and meets the space
requirement. Sufficient space is reserved for equipment maintenance.

2 The holes for the frame are in proper contact with the holes for the expansion bolt, and the frame and the
wall surface are in proper horizontal contact.

3 When the IMB network cabinet is installed on the wall, for a single-mode G.657A2 optical fiber, the
bending radius is greater than or equal to 10 mm. The bending radius of a multi-mode A1b optical fiber is
greater than or equal to 30 mm.
4 During equipment installation, all signal cables need to be routed in underfloor mode and then be led out
of the chassis. If the cables are routed in overhead mode, water vapor is condensed to water, which flows
to the cabinet along the cables and then corrodes the boards. As a result, the boards are short-circuited.
5 When routing the power and PGND cables on the bottom of the IMB network cabinet, ensure that the
holes for heat dissipation are not covered.

6 After routing the cables for the equipment, bundle all the cables at the outlet of the cabinet, avoiding stress
generated on the internal cable connectors when the external cables are pulled.

7 Lead fibers out of the cabinet outlet using winding pipes and bundle the winding pipes instead of the fibers
using cable ties.

8 The distance between the bundled fiber and the ATN panel is between 40 mm and 70 mm.

9 There are no connectors or joints on the power cable or PGND cable.。

10 All the power cables and PGND cables are not short-circuited or reversely connected. In addition, no
damaged or broken parts exist.

11 The working grounding and protection grounding of the base station and the surge protection grounding of
the building share one group of grounding conductors.

12 The connector of the signal cable is intact, and no damaged or broken parts exist on the cable.

13 The lugs at both ends of the power cable or the PGND cable are securely soldered or crimped.

14 The bare wire and OT terminal at the wiring terminal are tightly wrapped with the insulation tape or heat
shrink tubing.

15 After all cables are routed, cut parts of the protection plate to seal cable holes if there is spare space in the
cable holes.

16 The surface of the overall equipment is clean and tidy. The exterior paint is intact.

17 The door and lock of the cabinet are proper.

18 All labels, tags, and nameplates are correct, legible, and complete.

16
Powering On the Equipment
