1.0 SCOPE OF WORK


This is a generic procedure that applies to all work involving the door, window and roller shutter
installation work at the proposed expansion to existing factory on Lot Plo 8 & 9 (Line 7) Bunge Loders
Croklaan.

2.0 REFERENCE
This method statement is aligned with the Bunge Global Construction Safety Standard for
Contractors Working in Bunge Facilities.

4.0 RESPONSIBILITIES

4.1 Project Manager

• To communicate to site management team level, the adherence to work methods as herein
contained.

• To monitor the team’s productivity, efficiency and effectiveness in the conduct of the project’s
activities; recommend improvements and enhancements to procedures, where necessary.

• To enforce approved methods in the execution of works to meet deliverables – safety, cost,
quality and schedule.

4.2 Construction manager

• The Construction Manager is responsible for all aspects of the site work. He/She shall be in
constant communication with key site management staff to ensure his/her directions and
instructions are aligned with the approved requirements of the project.

• To establish and maintain site supervisory organisation to ensure quality construction and
installation in timely manner in all stages of the works.

• To assign responsibility to team members, ensuring the same are fulfilled.and anticipate
resources requirements and ensure that they are available in time to carry out the work.

4.3 QA/QC Lead

• The QA/QC Lead shall be responsible for the enforcement of quality control procedures and
standards throughout the construction.

• Report to the Construction Manager about the status of the implementation of the quality
assurance and control of the project.

• Implement with his team the ITP, Inspection checklists, MST for Testing and coordinate with
his team for over- all inspection plan.

4.4 Project Engineer

• The Project Engineer has the primary responsibility of maintaining complete, updated,
accurate, biddable, and buildable set of plans for all the structures in a project.
• To prepare MST in collaboration with QA/QC, EHSS, submit PTW, PDR and other daily reports.

4.5 Construction Supervisor

• The Supervisor reports to the Project Engineer. He is a focused person for project specific
tasks.

• To plan and implement micro tasks including coordination, supervision, monitoring and
anticipation of the need for MST, resources, (materials, machinery, tools, manpower) permits
and relay to Project Engineer, accordingly.

• To assist in the preparation PDR, PTW and other daily reports.

4.6 Safety Supervisor

• The Safety Supervisor shall ensure compliance to the EHSS requirements of the Project.

• To assess the hazards around the work area. Work with the construction team to mitigate, if
not eliminate the hazards.

• To prepare development of Risk Assessments based on the approved MST.

• Conduct tool box talk and JHA briefing

5.0 PLANTS, TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT

The following plants, tools and equipment will be utilized as and when necessary to assist in
the works:

1. Spirit level
2. Dumpy level, staff and tripod set
3. Cutting machine
4. Suction lifter
5. Hand tools

6. Measuring tape

6.0 MANPOWER
The following man power will be involved in the construction works:

8.0 WORK PROCEDURE

All crew involved in the activity shall comply with this method statement and with the
requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and all the other relevant health and safety
legislation, together with any specific site rules and where applicable, the requirements from principle
contractor’s safety policy and construction phase health and safety plan.

8.1 Implementation of Standard Operating Procedure for COVID-19 at site.


8.1.1 Screening before getting back to work – Ensure all the workers have undergone COVID -19 test
and they are free from virus.
8.1.2 Temperature measure and synmptoms screening – Perform the temperature measuring and
workers screening everyday and keep the records for reference. If the body temperature reading
is higher than 37.5⁰ or if there any symptoms, the worker are not allowed to enter the premise
and the worker shall be referred to the health center nearby.
8.1.3 Reducing no of workers – has to limit the number of workers to minimum level or atleast 50 %
of current numbers.
- Always maintain good personal hygiene
- Frequent hand washing with soap and water or hand sanitizer
- Wear mask and avoid contact with fellow workers
- Limit food handling and sharing of food at workplace.
- Proper maintenance of toilet facilities at site.
- Avoid physical contact and gathering.
- Practicing social distancing and limit the number of workers at each workspace.
8.1.4 Movement of workers
- Must make sure that the movement of worker involved is only limited from home to the
construction site only.
- Provide vehicle to facilitate the movement of worker by practicing social distancing/safe
distancing and vehicles must be disinfected after each use.

8.2 Installation of Door


8.2.1 Before starting work ensure that the correct door and frame types and opening sizes and have
been supplied, together with all the necessary ironmongery, locks and fixings etc.
8.2.2 Prior to the fitting of the new door and door frame, the walls must be checked to ensure that they
are sound and secure, and suitable for the fittings to be used.
8.2.3 The door frame shall be self-standing at the setting out props or anchor to the slab.
8.2.4 Clean the area and prepare the recess for the installation of the new door frame.

8.2.5 Fit the frame into position, ensuring a tight fit, checks should also be made to ensure the frame
is plumb and square.
8.2.6 Use packers where necessary to secure and level the frame in position and then drill through the
frame into the wall for the frame fixings.
8.2.7 A minimum of 3 frame fixings should be used on each element of the door frame.
8.2.8 Once the frame fixings have been inserted and securely fixed/tightened, any voids at the back of
the frame should be filled with concrete block and cement.
8.2.9 The door hinges can then be fitted to the frame and the door hung on the frame and the door
furniture added, this will involve simple hand tools and electric screwdrivers etc.
8.2.10 Once the door has been suitably adjusted, the remaining door locks, handles and other
ironmongery can be fitted into the pre-formed recesses and secured into place.
8.2.11 Remove all rubbish, scrap and waste materials/packaging from the premises and dispose of
appropriately. Thoroughly vacuum and clean through the area and all transit routes leaving the
property in a clean and tidy state.

8.3 Installation of window

8.3.1 Before starting work ensure that the correct window sizes have been supplied, together with the
necessary fixtures and fittings.

8.3.2 All work will generally be carried out from the inside of the building.

8.3.3 Prior to the fitting of the new window and window frame, the walls must be checked to ensure
that they are sound and well cut to fix the window frame.

8.3.4 Clean the area and prepare the recess for the installation of the new windows

8.3.5 Fit the new window frame into position, ensuring a tight fit and ensuring that the frame is plumb
and square.

8.3.6 Use packers where necessary to secure the frame in position and then drill through the frame
into the wall for the frame fixings.

8.3.7 A minimum of 2 frame fixings should be used on each element of the window frame.

8.3.8 Once the frame fixings have been inserted and securely fixed /tightened, the back of the frame
should be filled with expanding foam to provide added protection against the weather, water
ingress and from unwanted noise.

8.3.9 Where applicable the individual windows openings can be inserted and fixed to the window
frame with the hinges.

8.3.10 Generally all windows and frames should be supplied pre-assembled prior to arriving on site.

8.3.11 The windows should then be tested to ensure that they open and close smoothly without rubbing
or catching, if necessary the hinges should be adjusted to ensure a suitable fit.

8.3.12 The window frame should then be trimmed and sealed both internally and externally and the
area made good.

8.3.13 Care must be taken to ensure that the glass is not broken and that when handling glass and
windows, that appropriate gloves are worn.

8.4 Installation of roller shutter

8.4.1 The roller shutter opening shall be checked where the surface shall be flat and vertical to
guarantee a parallel alignment of the guide rail.

8.4.2 It is important to check the lintel does not bow inwards or have any projections that may catch
on the curtain or could push the box back towards the curtain.

8.4.3 To start the installation for the roller shutter box, the box lid shall be removed from the box and
the top guide to be filed at an angle to create optimum lead for the curtain. The guide insert
shall be trimmed to suit the filled guide top and securely crimpled in place.

8.4.4 The guide rails shall be carefully located and fixed individually onto the box lugs ensuring that
on face fit guides the holes that are on the outside.

8.4.5 The guide location shall be marked accurately on the bottom surface. The shutter then offered
to the opening and centralized to ensure the top of the shutter box is horizontal and the both
guide rails are vertical.

8.4.6 The guard rails then fixed using correct screw into the holes starting from top holes and make
sure the guide rails are vertical.

8.4.7 The shutter box is fitted using recommended fixing and spacing. Once installed, the dummy end
of the shutter box shall be checked to make sure that it is securely located within the axle.

8.4.8 The curtain shall be attached directly to the axle through the top two slats using screws
provided. The screws head must the counter sunk to prevent damage to the curtain.

8.4.9 The axle then is needed to turn down direction and carefully remove the pin. These will lead to
tension on the spring that could cause the axle to turn, hence extra carefully needed when
handling the axle.

8.4.10 The curtain installed shall be tested to operate by keeping hold of the bottom slat at all times. If
required, adjust the tension of the spring.

8.4.11 The stops, lock set, and bottom slat handles are then installed.

8.4.12 To complete the installation, the cover caps of the box shall be fitted to the guide rails and then
roller shutter to be cleaned and tied up.

9.0 CLEANING WORKPLACE


• Clear the area from any tripping hazard and no obstruction on the road to avoid any slip trip
and fall.
• All unwanted/used packing to be removed from site as soon as possible as part of
housekeeping

10.0 SAFETY AT SITE

All employees and sub-contractors will be aware during daily site toolbox talk of any risks
their work can exposed themselves and others in the vicinity. Work will only commence when
adequate protection is in place. The site supervisor will liaise with the principle contractor on matter
of safety to ensure worker protection.

11.0 PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT, FIRST AID AND EMERGENCY PROCEDURES

All employees and sub-contractors will wear the following Personal Protective Equipment at
all times whilst on site.

First-Aid: First aid kit will be available in the shelter area and in the vehicle. HSE personnel &
manager on duty shall be contacted in case of emergency.

12.0 ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION

All employees and sub-contractors will be responsible for the environmental protection.

1. Maintain proper housekeeping throughout the day.

2. All scrap meterials shall be removed from the site to a designated dumping area
