DISCUSSION:

In this practical work, students will learn about reflection coefficient by equipments such as
TLD511 Transmission Line Demonstrator, Links and Terminator. The TLD511 Transmission Line
Demonstrator, Links and Terminator. The TLD511 Transmission Line help students to visually
clarifies transmission line concept by graphically displaying at low frequency, the characteristics
of a transmission line. For students, the TLD511 provides on ideal demonstration of line
characteristics and wave motion.

Students will have to use Links and terminator with different values according to the labsheet . In
this theory, if a finite impendancy not equal to the characteristic impedance. The transmission line
demonstrator will show that there will be no reflection. On the other hand, if the finite Impedance
is equal to the characteristic impedance, the transmission, line demonstrator will show that there
will be reflection. when students insert 600R terminator at ‘A’ and ‘B’ there is no reflection
because the finite impedance and characteristic impedance is equal. As in theory the results
students get is 0v. Therefore, students need to change the terminator at ‘B’ by using the 200R
terminator. After that, students will find out there is a reflection between ‘A’ to ‘B’ because the
finite impedance and characteristics impedance is different. As theory the results students get is
-0.5V. Students will find out that 200R terminator will reflect the data in half from the full data.

Next, students need to replace the 200R terminator at ‘B’ with terminator of 1k8. After that,
students will find out there is reflection between ‘A’ and ‘B’ by using the 1k8 terminator. Students
will see the terminator from ‘A’ will send the full data and ‘B’ will transmit back the data in half.
Based on the theory calculation, students will get 0.5V. After that, students need to replace the
1k8 terminator at ‘B’ with terminator link to show the short circuit. Students will find out that there
is the reflection. Based in the labwork students will see that the data that have been transmit from
‘A’ will be reflected back to ‘B’ in full reflection. As in the theory calculation, students will get -1.
Finally, students have done this practical work successfully.

CONCLUSION:
In conclusion, At the end of this practical work, students will be able to observe standing waves
on a transmission line. Students will also able to calculate reflection coefficient.
