INVITATION LETTER REQUEST

If you are a current student at ANU and a friend or family member would like to visit you during your studies or for
your graduation ceremony, they will need to apply for a visitor visa through the Australian Government Department
of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP).

As of the 1st of August, 2013, the Australian National University will not be able to provide an Invitation Letter to
your friend or family member as support documentation for their visitor/tourist visa application. This letter will
need to be provided by you, rather than the University.

You will need to:

 Write a letter inviting your family member to visit you (locate an example over page)
 Print and enclose copies of your Enrolment Confirmation and Program confirmation letters from ISIS
 Enclose a certified copy of your Passport and Australian student visa
 Print and enclose the official ANU Graduation Ceremony Information, as published on our website
(http://www.anu.edu.au/students/graduation)
You will then need to give your invitation letter and supporting documents to your relatives or friends to be
included with their tourist visa application.

Supporting Documentation:
If you are requiring a Completion Letter, this may be collected from your ANU Academic College.

Completion letter - includes:

 Your name
 Your date of birth
 Your program name, code, type and duration
 Date of commencement and date of completion (research students)
 Expected date of completion (coursework students)

As part of your visitor’s invitations, you may need to supply a Confirmation of Enrolment and/or Confirmation of
Program Letter. These will NOT be supplied by Student Information Services. You may generate this yourself on ISIS.

Program Confirmation letter – includes:

 Your name and student ID
 Semester/session date for the academic year
 Language of tuition
 University CRICOS provider number

Enrolment Confirmation letter – includes:

 Your name and student ID
 Your program name
 Your course enrolment for the academic year
 Summary of full-time/part-time student status for each semester
 University CRICOS provider number
