The Art of Thinking
INTRODUCTION
• Everybody thinks. BUT…
• Not everybody knows how to think effectively and efficiently.
• Complexities create the demand for these skillset/mindset.
• We have over 50,000 thoughts a day; some are positive,
some are negative, enlightening or frightening or just crazy
thoughts.
• We need to think to understand, to learn and to progress, to
collect data/ information before deciding what to do with it.

• We copy patterns of behaviour and absorb ideas from those
who influenced us until challenged by someone else.
• We become entrenched in a mindset which is later difficult
to unlearn. Mindsets inhibit the thinking process, can lead to
bias, stubbornness and prejudice.

• The McKinsey 7S Model is an organizational tool
that assesses the well-being and future success of
a company, developed in the late 1970s/ 1980s.
• However, the model does not explain the concept
of organizational effectiveness or performance
explicitly. The model has been criticized for lacking
enough empirical evidences to support to support their
explanation. The model is considered to be more of a
static kind of model. 23
