I believe that I could be an essential asset to an already astounding team of educators. Alongside a
baccalaureate in Early Elementary Education, I am a Master of Science in Educational Technology.
Throughout my education, I have developed a pedagogy that incorporates varying methodologies to
provide an effective education for all types of learners. As a result of this pedagogy, students receive the
support they need to reach their highest potential. One method that I incorporate in the classroom is the
Universal Design for Learning. This allows students to showcase their learning by using a method that is
best suited for their learning style. Alongside the Universal Design for Learning, I follow the foundation of
STEM. That foundation includes problem- solving skills and shifting from a fixed mindset to a growth
mindset. The inquisitive nature of the classroom influences students to become lifelong learners.

I completed my student teaching in a sixth grade classroom. My participating teacher taught Language Arts
and Ancient Civilizations. Although I enjoyed growing in the area of Language Arts, Ancient Civilizations
was the highlight of my experience. A portion of the Social Studies standards included South Dakota Native
American standards. These standards were the basis of my work sample. I designed each lesson from
scratch. My creative mind allowed me to be successful in creating engaging lessons that students were
eager to learn. Impressed with my efforts, my participating teacher requested permission to use my
curriculum in her future classes.

Classroom Management- As a substitute teacher, I have been able to

Content Delivery- The educators will write the daily proceedings when
Bachelor of Early Elementary Education (K-8) they are absent. Part of my responsibility, as a substitute teacher, is to
ensure that I deliver the content in a meaningful method.

Patient Care/ Coordination- One responsibility of an optometric
assistant is to ensure that the patient receives the best care within the
medical profession.
Preliminary Testing- Before the doctor sees the patient, I would
perform a series of preliminary tests such as intraocular pressure,
retina screening, visual field screening, and visual acuity.
Glasses Production- As an eyewear specialist, I would style, fit, and cut
lenses for glasses. Part of that task included mathematical precision
to perfect the lenses to patients' prescriptions.
Technology- The use of technology was essential for everyday tasks.
There were numerous applications, instruments, and databases that I
used on a daily basis.
