1. How does a refrigerator work? (5 points)

Refrigerators have a liquid called a refrigerant . This fluid changes from liquid to gas which circulate inside the refrigerator causing them
to cool down. The process starts with the refrigerant being evaporated by reducing the pressure of the liquid using a capillary tube. As the
liquid turns to gas, the temperature of the refrigerant cools down which in turn cools the refrigerator. So that the process continues, the gas
needs to be turned to a liquid again using a compressor, the compressor compresses the gas to higher pressure and temperature. Since the
gas is now hot, a condenser is used to cool down the high pressured gas and turn it back to liquid form again, then the process continues. As
to how refrigerators keep our food cool, it absorbs the heat then releases it outside using the coils that are in the back of the refrigerator.

a. If you were to buy a refrigerator given the following choices, which would you buy? Why? Give 3 reasons. (10 points)

I would pick refrigerator B , why? First of all it has a freezer at the top which helps me freeze some of fresh goods that are needed to be
frozen and also helps me in making ice/ ice cubes. Next, it has a smaller size which helps lessen the storage it needs to occupy. And lastly, it only
consumes less electricity while having highe effieciency since it has a high CoP and EER. The only downside is the prcie but the features makes
that worth it.
