Introduction

• Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is a province of Pakistan, located at the North-Western region.

• The province possesses a rich heritage and history, well known for its ancestral roots.

• The iconic Khyber Pass has been a gateway for invasions of the Indian subcontinent from
the northwest. Indeed, few passes have had such continuing strategic importance or so
many historic associations.

• Some famous invaders include Alexander the Great, Zahiruddin Babur, Mahmud of Ghazni,
etc.
1. Khyber Pass
• The Khyber Pass is a mountain pass in the
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of
Pakistan, on the border with Afghanistan.
• Throughout its history it has been an
important trade route between Central
Asia and South Asia, and is a strategic
military location.
• The location remains a gateway for
invasions of the Indian subcontinent from
the northwest.
2. Shandur Pass
• Shandur Pass is a pass located in
Ghizer District. It is often called 'Roof of
the World.
• It is also home to highest polo ground
of the world as it is at the height of
3,738 meters above sea level.
• During the annual 'Shandur Polo
Festival,' there are polo matches
played in Shandur Polo Ground on
Shandur Top, between the teams of
Chitral District and Gilgit-Baltistan
Province.
3. Saif – ul - Maluk
• Saiful Muluk is a mountainous lake
located at the northern end of the
Kaghan Valley.
• At an elevation of 3,224 m above sea
level, the lake is located above the tree
line, and is one of the highest lakes in
Pakistan.
• The lake with its majestic and
mesmerizing natural beauty and
associated tale and history, attracts
thousands of tourists each year from all
around the country.
4. Tirich Mir
• Tirich Mir is the highest mountain of the
Hindu Kush range.
• It is the highest mountain in the world
outside of the Himalayas–Karakoram
range, at 7,708 meters above sea level.
• It is located in the Chitral District of
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan.
• It hosts a wonderful sight for tourists and
can be seen from great distances when
it is clear at the summit.
5. Kumrat Valley
• Kumrat is a valley in the Upper Dir District
of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of
Pakistan.
• It is among the most popular tourist spots
in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
• Every summer season, around a million
tourists from different areas of the
country visit Kumrat Valley for its
greenery and cool weather.
• It can only be accessed using 4x4
vehicles, as the road leading to it is
unmetalled.
