Linear Algebra II Homework 7

1. Textbook Sec. 6.2 Exercises 2(f) (the Fourier coefficients of v relative to an or-
thogonal basis {v1 , . . . , vn } just means the coefficients a1 , . . . , an ∈ F such that
v = a1 v1 + · · · + an vn ), 5, 7, 8, 9, 11, 13(ab), 17 (here T0 denotes the linear trans-
formation which sends every vector to 0).

2. Let V be a finite-dimensional inner product space. Show that any orthonormal

subset of V can be extended to an orthonormal basis for V .
