Economic Globalization and Global Trade in the Philippines

How can we upgrade our economy, especially the giant economies like the United States and
Japan? How do we examine economic globalization considering our colonial history? What is the
significance of international trade in terms of importing and exporting products between countries?
According to Gao Shangquan (2000) economic globalization refers to the increasing
interdependence of world economies as a result of the growing scale of cross-border trade of commodities
and services, flow of international capital and wide and rapid spread of technologies. In the same way,
Shawn Grimsley (2003) believes that the import and export of products and services across international
borders is simply referred to as global trade, also called international trade.
In order for our country to have upgraded economy like the United States and Japan we need to
invest in discounts and tax cuts for the middle class. As a result, the middle class will be more motivated
and spend more without any queries. Furthermore, promoting economic growth through innovation can
lead to increased productivity, which means by the European Central Bank (2017) that the same amount of
input produces more output and more commodities and services are created as productivity rises. Also,
ending war on drugs can help our country to grow. Unemployed people should find a decent job that can
provide them all the important essentials that help them to survive rather than being a drug seller that can
ruin everyone’s life. In the same time, our law should be fair to any people and never be prejudice. A court
should help a person who needed its help without minding the status whether poor or rich. Corruption is
the reason why our government is becoming tainted that makes our economy slow in progress.
We examine our economic globalization considering our colonial history through learning on the
way the different countries have invaded our economy. For example, according to Johner Joshua Calisanga
(2017) the production at that time was used in cargo ships that is used by Spanish colonials to import
products that’s the reason why globalization still improves on this day.
International trade enables countries to extend their markets and gain access to goods and services
that would otherwise be unavailable in other countries. As we import products in our country new products
can excite the consumers to buy it. For example, importing the products about Korean girl or boy group in
South Korea here in the Philippines can excite the consumers to buy it and the consumer can sell it to other
consumer for benefits. Exporting our products to other countries can help our economy to grow. We export
our product to gain new ideas on managing and marketing techniques and makes our relationship stronger
to other countries. In conclusion, international trade is important for our economic growth in terms of
importing and exporting products in the Philippines.
