Hi, I’m Nil del Pozo and I’m going to expose my oral presentation about a person

who has changed the world. I decided to chose Muhammad Ali who was an
American professional boxer and activist. He is known as one of the most significant
sports figures of the 20th century and one of the greatest boxers of all time.

Ali was born in Louisville, Kentucky and started training as an amateur boxer at the
age of 12. He became professional boxer after winning a gold medal in the light
heavyweight division of the 1960 Summer Olympics.

His first name was Cassius Clay but he thought it was a slave name and when he
converted to Islam and became a Muslim after 1961 he decided to change his name
to Muhammad Ali. Due to his strong statements and his name change, many of his
American viewers stopped supporting him and began to reproach him instead. But
he was a man who was not afraid of anything and fought for what he believed.

In 1966, Muhammad Ali refused to be drafted into the military, citing his religious
beliefs and opposition to the Vietnam War. He was arrested but he appealed the
decision to the Supreme Court which overturned the conviction in 1971.

He lost four years and a period of peak performance as an athlete but his actions as
an objector to the war made him an icon for the counterculture generation. He also
became a high-profile figure for African Americans during the civil rights movement.

I didn’t chose him for his boxer awards. I did because of his actions after his
professional retirement in 1984. Ali focused on practising his Islamic duty of charity,
donating millions to charity organizations and disadvantaged people of all religious
backgrounds. It is estimated that Ali helped to feed more than 22 million people
affected by hunger across the world.

Unfortunately, In 1984, Ali was diagnosed with Parkinson’s syndrome and he

stopped doing apparences in public as his condition worsened and he was cared for
his family.
Muhammad Ali was a good man that i think he changed the world with his religious
and peaceful ideas. He helped a lot of people and contributed to the civil rights
movement.
