Arcube UCM (Unintended Car Movement) Test Instructions V1.00
1. Introduction
1.1. Arcube keypad & display
1: Left
2: Right
3: Down
4: Up
5: Enter (ENT)
6: Escape (ESC)
7: Display
2. Testing the self-monitoring function of the brake contactors (KFR1 and KFR2) (EN 81-20,
5.9.2.2.2.3)
2.1. One of the brake contactors does not drop - KRC input is open-circuit
1 Car should be waiting inside a door zone with doors closed.
Monitoring signal KRC should be closed as the contactors stay de-energized.
2 Disconnect the cable from the input terminal KRC on the display board.
Arcube gives “H10: KRC CHECKBACK ERROR”. 1st error is not a permanent blocking error.
3 Reconnect the cable to the input terminal KRC.
Error is automatically reset within 30 seconds.
4 Disconnect the cable from the input terminal KRC again.
Arcube gives the same error. 2nd error blocks the lift permanently.
5 Reconnect the cable to input terminal KRC.
Arcube continues to give the same error.
6 Switch the main switch (or the circuit breaker F18) off and on again.
Arcubecontinues to give the same error.
7 Clear the permanent error.
Check that permanent error is cleared, and the lift is turned to normal mode.

3. Testing the self-monitoring function of machine brake (EN 81-20, 5.6.7.3 & 5.6.6.2) (if
applicable)
The self-monitoring of the machine brake is carried out by checking that each single brake set lifts or drops correctly,
preventing the next normal start of the lift if a failure is detected.
Ensure that the self-monitoring of the machine brake parameter and programmable inputs are set properly:
• “MENU → 5: MOTOR PARAMETERS → 5.23: MECHANICAL BRAKE MONITORING → MONITORING
WITH TWO INPUTS”
• “MENU → 10: PROGRAMMABLE INPUTS → 10.1: LCB PI1 → (BRC) MECHANICAL BRAKE
CHECKBACK”
• “MENU → 10: PROGRAMMABLE INPUTS → 10.1: LCB PI2 → (BRC2) MECHANICAL BRAKE-2
CHECKBACK”
3.1. Single brake set does not hold - PI1 (BRC) or PI2 (BRC2) input is open-circuit
1 Car should be waiting inside a door zone with doors closed.
Monitoring signal PI1 (BRC) should be closed as the brake stays de-energized.
2 Disconnect the cable from the input terminal PI1 on the LCB board.
Arcube gives “H26: BRAKE CHECKBACK ERROR”. 1st error is not a permanent blocking error.
3 Reconnect the cable to the input terminal PI1.
Error is automatically reset within 30 seconds.
4 Disconnect the cable from the input terminal PI1 again.
Arcube gives the same error. 2nd error blocks the lift permanently.
5 Reconnect the cable to input terminal PI1.
Arcube continues to give the same error.
6 Switch the main switch (or the circuit breaker F18) off and on again.
Arcube continues to give the same error.
7 Clear the permanent error.
Check that permanent error is cleared, and the lift is turned to normal mode.
8 Repeat the same test procedure for input PI2 (BRC2).
3.2. Single brake set does not release - PI1 (BRC) or PI2 (BRC2) input is short-circuit
1 Car should be waiting inside a door zone with doors closed.
Monitoring signal PI1 (BRC) should be closed as the brake stays de-energized.
2 Make a bridge from the terminal 100 (+24V) to the input terminal PI1 on the LCB board.
3 Give a call.
Arcube gives “H26: BRAKE CHECKBACK ERROR”. 1st error is not a permanent blocking error. Error is
automatically reset within 30 seconds.
4 Give another call.
Arcube gives the same error. 2nd error blocks the lift permanently.
5 Remove the bridge from input terminal PI1.

4. Testing the self-monitoring function of overspeed governor UCM solenoid (EN 81-20, 5.6.7.3
& 5.6.6.2) (if applicable)
The self-monitoring of the OSG UCM solenoid is carried out by checking that the solenoid is activated or deactivated
correctly, preventing the next normal start of the lift if a failure is detected.
Ensure that the OSG UCM solenoid control parameter is set properly:
• “MENU → 2: BASIC SETTINGS → 2.10: OSG COIL CONTROL → ENABLED”
4.1. UCM solenoid is not activated - SGC input is open-circuit
1 Car should be waiting inside a door zone with doors closed.
Monitoring signal SGC should be closed as the UCM solenoid stays de-energized.
2 Disconnect the cable from the input terminal SGC on the LCB board.
Arcube gives “H35: SPEED GOVERNOR MONITORING ERROR” and blocks the lift permanently.
3 After having this error, reconnect the cable to the input terminal SGC.
Arcube continues to give the same error.
4 Switch the main switch (or the circuit breaker F18) off and on again.
Arcube continues to give the same error.
5 Clear the permanent error.
Check that permanent error is cleared, and the lift is turned to normal mode.
5. Unintended car movement (UCM) protection means test (EN 81-20 5.6.7 & 6.3.13)
5.1. Static test (for lifts with certified machine brake without re-levelling and pre-opening)
ln case re-levelling or pre-opening with open doors is not installed and certified brake is used with gearless machines (or
directly mounted on the (axis of) traction sheave in case of geared machines), UCM detection and so dynamic UCM test
described below is not required. Self-monitoring of the correct functioning of the brake is sufficient. Arcube can be used for
self-monitoring of the machine brake.
See “Testing the self-monitoring function of machine brake” section.
5.2. Dynamic test
The aim of the test is to check detection, activation and stopping elements.
The test shall confirm that the unintended movement distances doesn't exceed the required values.
In order to simulate the worst load condition in dynamic UCM test:
• the empty car is moved in the upward direction at the top of the shaft (from the one below floor to the top)
• the full loaded car is moved in the downward direction at the bottom of the shaft (from the one above floor to the
bottom)
There are 2 options for UCM test. The proper test method should be chosen:
• RECALL SPEED: Test is performed in recall speed. This can be used when a full-torque test is not required.
• FULL-TORQUE: Test is performed with the highest power allowed by the drive system. This option should be used
if UCM test will be done under the worst case conditions (by taking into account the maximum acceleration effect of
the drive system error). Arcube moves the car in the indicated direction with max. acceleration by applying max.
torque to the motor allowed by the drive system.
To be able to use the UCM test function, "7.20: DOOR BRIDGING CIRCUIT" and "7.21: DOOR PREOPENING" parameters
should be enabled. If these parameters are enabled for the first time, Arcube needs one correct travel to activate door bridging
relays. Arcube gives necessary warnings during UCM test for these cases.
UCM test should be made with doors closed for safety purposes. Open doors can be simulated by disconnecting the 135 wire
(landing door lock) during the test. Arcube gives necessary message during UCM test for this.
