Disease:

Diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is a type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL). NHL is a cancer of the
lymphatic system. It develops when the body makes abnormal B lymphocytes. These lymphocytes are a
type of white blood cell that normally help to fight infections.

Causes:

Certain viruses, including Epstein-Barr virus, human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), hepatitis B and
hepatitis C.

Immunosuppressant drugs taken after organ transplants.

Autoimmune disorders.

Immunodeficiency.

Increased body mass index in young adults.

Agricultural pesticides.
Signs & Symptoms:

The first sign of DLBCL is often a quickly growing, non-painful mass that is typically an enlarged lymph
node in the neck, groin, or abdomen. People may also experience fever, weight loss, drenching night
sweats.

Diagnosis:

Lymph node biopsy

Treatment:

the treatment is chemotherapy (chemo), usually with a regimen of 4 drugs known as CHOP
(cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine, and prednisone), plus the monoclonal antibody rituximab
(Rituxan).

MNT:

problems, unwanted weight loss, or other health issues for patients undergoing DLBCL treatment)
