Product Link Within SIS


Within SIS, refer to the Special Instruction REHS2365
and System Operation, Troubleshooting and Testing
and Adjusting manual RENR7911 to become familiar
with the general installation, setup, operation and
troubleshooting Product Link. The rest of this
document will help a service technician find the
Product Link information available within SIS. Some
products have specific documents that explain the
install and setup process. This document will help you
find the appropriate documents to install, setup or use
Product Link.

Product link ready machines have the needed connectors


included in the machine wiring harness.
Use the Electrical Schematic to identify the connectors
and the harness locations.
Refer to the Special Instruction Installation document and
System Operation / Troubleshooting / Testing and
Adjusting document Product Link to insure Product
Link is operating properly.

machines) for the necessary steps to install Product
Link.

Link Operation, Troubleshooting and Testing and
Adjusting information that may not be included in
REHS2365.

Find Product Link Information in SIS

Select the binoculars in


the toolbar to search within
the electrical schematic.
Type Product Link for the
keyword and select search.
All occurrences of Product
Link will be displayed.
Navigate to each
occurrence to become
familiar with the Product
Link information. Start a
new search and type radio
in the new search. Find the
Product Link Radio. Notice
it is abbreviated “prod link”
Use the electrical schematic to find information
about Product Link. Keyword search examples that
may help find information in SIS are Product Link,
prod link, radio, ECM, ECM part number, Product
Link radio part numbers, wire numbers etc.

Select Advanced Full Text Search from the Main Menu


Find Product Link Information in SIS

To find all information types for Product Link quickly, go to Advanced full
text search and enter “Product Link” in the phrase. Enter B6H in the
serial number prefix if not present. Select Search at the bottom of the
page.

Results: There are 41 results within seven
different information types.
The Operation and Maintenance manual
contains operation, safety and maintenance
information.
Service Letter contains product improvement
information or product support programs.
Service Magazine contains service information
changes made since first production.
Special Instructions contain installation
information for Product Link.
Systems Operation may contain CID, Failure
Modes or Troubleshooting information.
Technical Information Bulletin will contain the
latest information for safety or a field solution.
Other information types may be displayed and
contain relevant information for the model and
version of Product Link being researched.
Expand the appropriate information type to
review the service information.

Product Prefix 8YG 988F Wheel Loader

Use the Electrical Schematic to identify how the machine wiring


can be adapted to use Product Link or to identify in the wiring
harness is Product Link ready. See the previous section for the
steps to find the electrical schematic if you are not familiar with
finding and searching an electrical schematic in SIS.
Refer to the Special Instruction Installation document
REHS2365(common for most machines) for the necessary steps
to install Product Link. Use the System Operation /
Troubleshooting / Testing and Adjusting Document RENR7911 to
find Product Link Operation, Troubleshooting and Testing and
Adjusting information.
Check the Service Magazines, TIB’S etc for any other information
that could be available for Product link.
Is the Machine Product Link Adaptable
This document uses 8YG as the example to determine if a machine
is Product Link adaptable. The technician would enter the prefix of
the machine that is to have Product Link installed.
Step 1. Enter the product ID 8YG at the Main Menu.
Step 2. Select document structure and then select the electrical
schematic for the 8YG 988F. The schematic opens within Adobe
Reader running within SIS Web.
Step 3. Enlarge the text within Adobe Reader so the schematic text
is large enough to read.
Step 4. Select the binocular from the toolbar and then enter Product
Link in the word or phrase box. Search, try several other keywords
such as radio, prod link, link or product.
Step 5. The result will be no information found in the schematic
concerning Product Link.
Is the Machine Product Link Adaptable
The product wiring harness is not Product Link ready if
the results are zero and the product must be modified
using the Legacy process outlined in the Special
Instruction REHS2365.
Step 6. Go back to the Main Menu and enter 8YG in the
product ID box. Then go to Advanced Full text search.
Select search.
Step 7. The results are 43. Expand the Special
Instructions information type and select SI REHS2365
titled, An Installation Guide for the Product Link
PL121SR and for the PL300. Follow these instructions
to install Product Link.
