Experiment 4: Determination of Deflection and Stresses in 2D and 3D Trusses and Beams
Experiment No: 4A Modelling & Analysis of Rod using One, Two and Three Dimensional
Analysis approach in ANSYS Classic and Workbench
Create the Given rod model and analyze using ANSYS Classic and Work
Bench.
The Vertical Steel plate is having a length, width and thickness of 300mm, 50mm
and 5mm respectively is fixed at the top and a load P of 40KN is applied at the free
end. Given young’s modulus and poisson’s ratio are 2 X 105 N/mm2 and 0. 3
respectively. Find the Deflection and stresses of the plate under
1. 1D analysis approach by considering the model as three / four / six / eight equal
number of elements. Also validate the output using the traditional / solid
mechanics equations.
2. 2D analysis approach and find the deflection and stresses in various nodes and
elements respectively using ANSYS Classic. Attach the List of Results.
3. 3D analysis approach and find the deflection and stresses in various nodes and
elements respectively using ANSYS Workbench. Attach the ANSYS Report.
