z Outline
This is an update manual of Ver.00000056C from Ver.00000042A or older software for
JAN-701B/901B/2000/1186, NDC-1186-4xx.

In case of using ENC, When JAN-701B/901B/1186/2000, NDC-1186-4xx software is

updated from V42A or older to V56C, it becomes impossible to display an existing ENC
(Contain AVCS) chart. The installation of the chart is necessary after updating
software.
Before update, confirm that there are latest Base CD, Update CD and Cell Permit data.

In case of using ENC (Contain AVCS), delete Cell Permit before updating the software
according to “Step5：Deleting Cell Permit (In case of using ENC (Contain AVCS))”.
Otherwise, it may cause a malfunction which a part of charts are not displayed.

In case of using C-map, it is necessary to re-install C-map database, and the

operation about C-map data updating is changed after updating V56C. So, before
update, confirm that there are latest database DVD and license file.

Attention
Even if software is updated to V56C, user map remains preserved without deleting.

Step1：Creating the software update CD

Create the software update CD according to following step

2) Open the folder “V0056C_ECDIS_RPS-NWS_R3_0” and confirm extract files as follows.

3) Burn the 6 files and 1 folder which are confirmed in 2) to CD-R with CD-R writing software.

・ Don’t change file name, otherwise the software is not be installed correctly.

・ Don’t change the directory structure. Otherwise, it could not update

correctly.

4) Confirm the composition of CD-R. Confirm that each file is written to root directory.

5) Describe to CD as follows (handwriting is possible). Use a oil paint pen.

Step2：Confirming of latest Base CD, Update CD, and Cell permit(In case of
using ENC)
When executing software update and re-installing ENC (Contain AVCS) charts, following items are
required:

● Latest Base CD
● Latest Update CD
● Latest Cell Permit (In the case of update from before V42A)

Step3：Confirming latest C-Map database DVD and license (in case of using
C-Map)

After updating software, it is necessary to re-install C-Map database. So, following item is necessary at updating..

Step4：Confirming of current software version.

Confirm current software version according to following step.

1) Push [POWER] key of objective model.

2) After ECDIS software start-up, move the cursor on the “Startup" menu, then right-click in the mouse of
the operation unit, and will be displayed the “PASSWORD" dialog.
3) When right-clicking again on the “PASSWORD" dialog, "Software keyboard" is displayed. Input the
password "85100" and left-click “ENT”.

4) “System Information" dialog is displayed. Software version is described in “MaintenanceNo. “.

Please Fill in MaintenanceNo. on “Version before software updates” at "Request for sending of
software update result" that is the end page of this procedure.

5) After confirming of software version, left-click [Close].

Step5：Deleting Cell Permit (In case of using ENC (Contain AVCS))

In case of using ENC (Contain AVCS), delete Cell Permit before updating the software.
Otherwise, it may cause a malfunction which a part of charts are not displayed.

1) Start up ECDIS software, then left-click “ChartPortfolio”.

2) Select [Tool] → [Option] at the Chart Portfolio window. ”Option” dialog is displayed.

3) Left-click ［S-63］tab, then left-click [Delete Cell Permit...] button. Popup dialog box is displayed.

4) Left-click the ［Yes］ button to delete the Cell permit.

5) Confirm that”You are NOT licensed.” is displayed in ”Cell Permit” of ”Option” dialog. And,
left-click the ［Cancel］ button to delete the Cell permit.

(1) Confirm that”You are NOT

(2) Left-click the ［Cancel］ button.

6) Left-click the [Exit] button to exit Chart Portfolio.

Step6：Software update

Update software according to below step.

In case of using ENC (Contain AVCS), delete Cell Permit before updating the software
according to “Step5：Deleting Cell Permit (In case of using ENC (Contain AVCS))”.
Otherwise, it may cause that a part of charts are not displayed.

1) Insert “Software Update CD” into the DVD drive.

For JAN-701B/901B, there is DVD drive when opening the cap in the upper part of front panel.

Open the cap in the upper part of front panel.

type.There is the cap in the same place for
desktop type, and JAN-901B too.)

For JAN-2000/1186, there is DVD drive in the upper left.

2) Move the cursor on “Startup Menu”, and right-click the trackball on operation panel to display
“PASSWORD” dialog.
3) On “PASSWORD” dialog, right-click the trackball once again, then “Software Keyboard” is displayed
and Enter password “5858” and left-click “ENT”.

4) Confirm that “Software Update: Q:¥EUpdate.exe” is displayed in the upper dialog box, and then
left-click [OK] button.

If the Software Update CD is not recognized, software data path is not displayed as following.

Left-click [Cancel] button and then confirm that Software Update CD is inserted in to the DVD Drive.

Attention
If following message is displayed, this software is not accepted to update because of special
software. Please contact to JRC service agent.

The message list is following.

1. You can't install as this system is non-standard.
2. This model is not applicable.Confirm the ECDIS model.
3. You can't install as version is incompatible.

Attention
If you stop software updating, re-install Cell Permit according to Step9. Because Cell permit
has been already deleted in Step5.

5) Following dialog is displayed. Confirm that upgrading version is “56C”, then left-click [Yes] button.

8) Update is started. It takes several minutes. You can not select [Close] button until update is finished.

10) After updating the software "e-Token Setup" dialog is displayed. It is necessary to carry out this
operation even if C-map is used / not used. Left-click [Yes] button.

Select eToken PRO(32K)

In case of selecting eToken PRO(JAVA), the software cannot be updated.

1) Move the cursor on the “Startup" menu, then right-click in the mouse of the operation unit, and will be
displayed the “PASSWORD" dialog.
2) When right-clicking again on the “PASSWORD" dialog, then "Software keyboard" is displayed. Input
the password "85100” and left-click “ENT”.

Step8：Deleting of Playback data and Logbook data

The procedure of deleting Playback data

1) Move the cursor on the “Startup" menu, then right-click in the mouse of the operation unit, and will be
displayed the “PASSWORD" dialog.
2) When right-clicking again on the “PASSWORD" dialog, then "Software keyboard" is displayed. Input
the password "1101" and left-click “ENT”.

Step9：Confirming of SA Certificate and importing of Cell Permit (In the

case of using ENC)

Confirm SA Certificate file and import Cell Permit according to below procedure.

1) Start up ECDIS software, then left-click “ChartPortfolio”.

2) Select [Tool] → [Option] at the Chart Portfolio window. ”Option” dialog is displayed.

3) Left-click ［S-63/AVCS］tab, then left-click [Select of Certificate...] button.

4) Select the SA Certificate file of data server for importing or update charts according to
following list.

5) Left-click ［OK］ button after confirming of SA Certificate file’s information.

When SA Certificate supplied from the Non-IHO is selected, “Warning:SSE26” is displayed. That is no problem in

chart importing.

6) After confirming of SA Certificate file name(e.g.「1:primar.crt」), then left-click ［OK］ button.

”1:” in [1:primar.crt] means sequential number of Certificate imported in..

”primar.crt” means the file name, their file name vary by data server.
（e.g. PRIMAR、UKHO(AVCS) is 「primar.crt」, international hydrographic organization is
「iho.crt」 and so on.）

Import of Cell Permit

Confirm computer virus does not exit beforehand in USB memory

when reading and writing of the file by using USB memory device.
It influences other equipment when ECDIS is infected with the
virus, and causes the breakdown.

Do not leave USB memory plugged into USB port.

It may be the cause of trouble.

After confirming of SA Certificate file, import Cell Permit according to below procedures.

1) Start up “ChartPortfolio”.
2) Select [Tool] → [Option] at the Chart Portfolio window. ”Option” dialog is displayed.

3) Left-click ［S-63/AVCS］tab, then left-click [Import Cell permit...] button.

4) Insert Cell permit CD-ROM into DVD drive, and then wait until ready to read.

5) Select ［Q：］（Q drive） from ［Drive］ combobox (a).

6) Double click ［Q：］ of ［Directory］ list box (b).

7) Double click Cell Permit file name (e.g. “permit.txt”) from ［File name］ (c).

Attention
・ Insert FD, and then select Cell permit［A：］（A drive） if receiving Cell Permit by FD.
・ If receiving Cell permit by e-mail, save “Permit.txt” file into USB memory and insert
USB memory into USB port, then select ［F：］（F drive）.
- Save only “Permit.txt” file into USB memory.
- If “Permit.txt” is compressed, execute decompression before saving into USB memory.

8) Confirm the file name, then left-click［OK］button.

9) Left-click ［OK］ button when [Completed］dialog box is displayed.

Get back to ［Option］ dialog box.

10) Confirm the number of chart license after importing Cell Permit.
11) The number equal to contracted license.
12) If cell Permit is published from a number of data server, repeat above 3)～10).
13) Left-click ［OK］ button, then S-63 Cell Permit import is end.

Confirm the number of chart license.

This is end of confirming of SA Certificate file and re-importing Cell Permit.

Step10：Re-install of ENC(Contain AVCS) charts (In case of using ENC)

Please re-install the ENC(Contain AVCS) in accordance with the following procedure.

1) Start “Chart Portfolio” at Start up menu.

2) Insert ENC/AVCS Chart CD-ROM into the CD/DVD-ROM drive.

3) Select [Sort] – [S-63(Offline)] in that order.

S-63 chart list will appear in several minutes.

Select [Sort] - [S-57] in that order when importing S-57 chart.

4) Left-click [Import/Update] button..

The “Import Condition” dialog box will appear.

Attention:
• When UPDATE information is included in the BASE CD-ROM(PRIMAR or
UKHO (AVCS ) ), the following dialog box appears. Left-clicked the [OK]
button.

※ When the [Cancel] button is left-clicked, check a chart display and

accept updating from Navigation&Planning.

Structure, format and validity of the chart are checked.

Step12：Re-installing C-Map database (in case of using C-Map)

In case that before updating version is V54 or older, re-installing C-map database is need. Re-install the C-map
database as follows.

1) Start ECDIS software, and left-click “C-Map Chart Manager”.

2) Insert the C-Map database DVD-Rom into the DVD drive.

3) Left-click [Search automatically] at the Databases tab.

4) Select the DVD drive (Q), and left-click [Search] button.

5) Select searched database by left-clicking, and left-click [Register database] button.
