Topic #1: What is EA?

1. What is Enterprise?

Enterprise is any organization that uses software systems to the business strategies and
management.

2. What is Architecture?

Merriam Webster defines architecture as the manner in which the components of a computer or
computer system are organized and integrated.

3. What is Enterprise Architecture?

The organizational activities of evaluating concepts, plans, standardizing and organizing the input
and output that use to align to the technology as a result of digital transformation, the growth of the
enterprise and advancement of its modernization, as well as the business strategies.

4. Identify and define the three major architectural roles recognized by the IT industry?

Application Architecture- Application architects are responsible for the  design and development of
software applications. They work with a variety of different technologies, including programming
languages, databases, web services, etc., to build new features or improve existing ones.

Solutions Architect- A solutions architect is responsible for creating a comprehensive architecture for a
software solution and providing strategic direction throughout the development process.

Enterprise Architecture- Enterprise architects are responsible for envisioning, communicating, and evolving
an organization’s enterprise architecture. The enterprise architecture addresses key enterprise aspects –
including organizational structure, business processes and strategies, value streams, data and information,
and supporting technologies – and how they fit together and are expected to evolve over time.
Topic #2: Why do Enterprises need Architecture?

1. Because of a lack of communication between business stakeholders and developers, EA can address these
issues by? Acting interpreters, translating from business needs to solution designs, and finally to real
systems.
2. EA can address this issue by managing technology Strategy because a Business Stakeholders, Software
Developers and Enterprise Architects are? Because a Business Stakeholders don’t have a time to learn
systems development and it is not really part of their job description. Software developers will of course
focus on writing software to specifications. Enterprise Architects focus on the space between the needs of
business and the needs of IT department that supports enterprise systems.

3. Business leaders look to enterprise architecture teams to help them make some of the most important
decisions they can make, identify them?
 Do we need a system to support this new business process?
 Should we build a new system or can we buy one?
 Can we use existing platforms or do we need new technology to support it?
 What is the risk of failure in the systems that we currently support?
 How do we mitigate the risk?
Topic #3: What do Architects do?

1. Architects typically begin their careers as?

Architects typically begin their careers as Software Developer.


2. Architects are at the center of a group of diverse stakeholders. As a result, they act as?

As a result, they act as not only a technology consultant but also as mediator, ambassador and negotiator.
3. What is Business Architecture?

Business Architecture is the strategy and business processes of an enterprise.


4. Members of an EA department must manage the department itself. This is often referred to as the?

This is often referred to as the business of IT. The operations of an IT focused department.
5. Running an EA Department includes?
 Administrative or Admin tasks- hiring and training.
 IT governance and compliance.
