Increased human access and connectivity

Cell phone and Social media platforms have

revolutionized connectivity

Half of the American internet users have social

media presence

These users have profiles set up on at least two

social media platforms
Professional Connections:
Technology reduces the quality of human interactions but promotes professional
connections

Internet platforms allow people to come together with individuals they would never meet
in person

Freelance work, the gig economy and online work are direct offshoots of technology.

Individuals who need certain services can see ads on job boards or freelance platforms.

Online jobs related to technology are also on the rise on these freelancing websites
Closing Distance
In previous times, distance was an issue in maintaining
relationships.

Now, being thousands of miles apart does not have to

stop individuals who truly want to be in contact with one
another. Facebook, Instagram, Skype, FaceTime, and so
many other platforms provide opportunities for people to
remain connected in real-time, improving technology on
relationships.
False Sense of Intimacy:
Forming relationships solely related to technology can provide a false sense of intimacy
since it becomes very easy for people to lie about who they are.

To this day, many individuals are plagued with addictions to technology in one form or
another, whether it's video games, YouTube, or other social networking sites due to false
connectivity impression.

Spending a fair amount of time on these platforms is one thing, but when technology
begins to interfere with individuals' abilities to engage with others in the real world, this is
when issues arise. For as much good as technology can do, it should never become so
powerful in someone's life that they are psychologically dependent upon it.
Avoidance Of Real-Life Interactions:

Technology interferes with having face-to-face conversations, allowing people to remain

distant, ignoring or blocking people altogether when uncomfortable topics come up. This
occurs more commonly than most individuals can imagine; sometimes, it's easier to type
a passive-aggressive message than sit down with someone and have a face-to-face
conversation, even if it's not the easiest conversation.

There is a certain emotional detachment that comes along with using technology to
avoid certain aspects of face-to-face relationships. This emotional detachment can lead
to rudeness or outright dismissal.
A Lack Of Focus:

Technology is an ideal tool for individuals who enjoy multitasking, which could be
considered one of the ways technology has helped us be more productive.

There are times were dividing your attention across multiple matters can lead to
cracks and missed details. People can easily open up their laptops and have
multiple tabs open, including work emails, Facebook, and funny videos on
YouTube. By splitting one's attention across multiple areas, certain relevant details
can go missing, thus leading to unintended consequences later down the line
Distraction From Real Life:

Complaints about people using their phones or tablets at inopportune times, such as dinner,
meetings, etc., are almost universal pet peeves. This is inherently problematic and can
certainly lead to fractured relationships if the behaviour is habitual.

Technology does not provide any replacement for psychological fulfilment that comes from
human relationships and people are facing an empathy paradox that despite close
interactions people are unable to enjoy psychological fulfilment from relationships.

Ideas on how to
Implement Technology in the
classroom

Virtual Field Trips

• Virtual experiences that allow students to

explore different places and learn about
various topics without leaving the
classroom.
• Typically use technology such as video,
360-degree panoramas, and interactive
maps.
• It’s a great opportunity for them to
“travel” globally.

Implement Technology in the
classroom

Gamified Learning

• Involves incorporating game elements and

mechanics into the learning process.
• Can involve the use of points, badges, levels,
leaderboards, and other game-like features.
• Makes learning more like playing a game, where
students feel more in control of their own learning
and have a greater sense of achievement as they
progress through the material.

Learning Management Systems (LMS)

• Allow teachers to upload and organize digital course content.

• Provide communication tools such as discussion forums where
students can communicate with the teacher and other students.
• Has tools for grading and providing feedback on student work.
• 24/7 access to content, due dates and information pertaining to the
course.

Online Writing and Website Creation

• Have students create a design a website specific to class content.

• Help students become more digitally literate and adept at using
technology.
• Encourages collaboration and communication if students work in
groups.
• Provides students with an opportunity to express their creativity by
designing and building unique content.
• Builds self-confidence/sense of achievement once complete.
• Students apply knowledge learning in class in order to complete the
work.

Conclusion

The emergence of technology in society has both positive and

negative aspects.
Technology has the potential to increase human access,
connectivity, and innovation but it can also contribute to social
isolation, a false sense of intimacy, and other negative
consequences.

In the classroom, technology can be both good and bad for

student learning.
It can provide new opportunities for collaboration, personalization,
and engagement
A.I can tailor content and pact to each student’s requirements and
personalize their learning experience
However, it can also be a distraction with negative effects on
student well-being, increased screen time and decreased physical
activity.

It is important for educators to be mindful of these potential risks

and benefits and to use technology in a thoughtful and responsible
way that supports student learning and well-being.
