1 EXT. CITY - MORNING (1920'S) 1

Frederic is walking down the street. There are kids around

playing together, some bullying a kid on a bicycle. He keeps
walking. As he reaches a busier area kind of a market, he is
walking and playing around, kicking fruits fallen on the
rode side. One one side there is an old man distributing
leaflets. A Bunch of kids come running from the opposite
side, they grab the leaflets and throw them in the air.

OLD MAN
Assholes!

He tries to collet all of them back together. Frederic

catches one from mid air.

Its an advertisement for a theater performance.

2 EXT. COUNTRYSIDE - MORNING 2

He is running down the road, it's a more rural area now but
beautiful. There aren't many people around, some working on
the field, a shepherd etc. He finally reaches his house,
gets inside.

3 INT. HOME - MORNING 3

MOTHER
Frederic Is that you?

FREDERIC
Yeah!

He goes to the kitchen where his mother is present. They

have a close relationship and talk friendly.

MOTHER
The boys from the club were looking
for you.

FREDERIC
Where they?

he tries to act cool and slowly starts going out of the

kitchen.

MOTHER
They were asking for some money. What
money are they talking about?

FREDERIC
Don't worry about it!

He runs upstairs to his room and looks out of the window. He

sees a little boy playing with dirt. He looks at him, out of
nowhere a few soldiers appear near the boy, they start
interacting with the kid, teasing and stuff. Few moments
later Frederic's mom shows up to give the soldiers some
food, water and milk.

He sits on a table next to the window. There is an open

bible on the table which he must have left. He reads it.
"The suffering of this time is not worth comparing to the
glory about to be reveled to us.-Romans 8:18". There is a
moment of absolute silence.

BOYS
Frederic! Come down here!

FREDERIC
Oh fuck

4 EXT. HOME - MOMENTS LATER 4

He slowly comes downstairs. He peaks in his moms room and

she is sleeping unaware of the boys outside.

The boys are waiting for him as he walks out of the house.

BOY1
So, we got two options. Either you
give us the money back, or, we fuck
your mother.

They start laughing.

Frederic's mother peaks out of her window.

FREDERIC
I said I would give it to you next
week. You fucking pussy.

BOY1
The fuck did you say to me?

FREDERIC
You're a pussy.

He punches Frederic in the face.

Frederic's mother rushes out of the house.

MOTHER
Hey! You filthy bastards. What do you
want?

The boys still laughing.

BOY1
Well, we want, nothing.

They back off, still laughing.

MOTHER (COMFORTING FREDERIC)

Come inside.

Frederic is walking up the stairs looking all weak with

blood on his face.

5 INT. BAKERY - MORNING 5

Frederic working in a bakery which is famous for pastries,

packing orders. His boss calls him to the side.

He hands him his monthly pay.

BOSS
What happened to your face? You look
like....

FREDERIC
No it was just an accident.

Frederic goes back to work.

6 EXT. ON THE STREETS - EVENING 6

Boys hanging around on the side of the streets. One of the

guy makes a kid trip with his foot.

Frederic hands some cash to the boys.

BOY1
hahaha... stay safe kiddo. (taps on
his back)

The boys walk away. A friend of Frederic(lewis) who is much

older, calls him on a horse carriage from the other side of
the street. Frederic gets on it.

7 INT. PUB - EVENING 7

They go to this pub. Drunk men are dancing and singing

behind them as they are having a beer on the bar counter.

LEWIS
Remember when you told me you weren't
happy with your job at the bakery. I
mean who is even happy to work in a
fucking bakery like....

FREDERIC
What do you mean?

LEWIS
I may have something for you.

Lewis takes out a list of names from his coat.

LEWIS (cont'd)
I have a list of names of boys who
are ready to work for Brandy.

FREDERIC
Brandy? You mean Dominic Manoldi?

LEWIS
Yeah

There is a drunk man in the back ground who out of nowhere

starts fucking this lady. She makes some noise and everyone
starts cheering or laughing.

PUB OWNER
Hey! Hey! Get out of here!

Some guy who works in the pub comes and pulls this man away
and kicks him out of the pub.

FREDERIC
So what do I have to do exactly?

LEWIS
Transportation, Has some stuff you
and the other boys have to take care
of.In terms of legal matters, I
cannot assure you that this is a
hundred percent safe. As far as I'm
concerned, it's a well paying job.

Frederic grabs the list(more like a application or a letter)

from the table.

LEWIS (cont'd)
I'll see you around.

FREDERIC
Yeah.

Lewis gets up the chair and leaves.

Frederic puts the list in his coat. He notices another piece

of paper in his coat. It's the leaflet he grabbed earlier.
There's a theater show nearby.

8 INT. THEATER - NIGHT 8

There is a musical performance happening on the stage.

Frederic walks in the room, tries squeeze through people to
get to the empty seat in the middle of the row. People are
singing and laughing along with the show.

It is a fun performance. Everyone is enjoying it. Frederic

shows a smile on his face with everything going on in his
surrounding.

Suddenly a big drunk man falls on his lap trips in front of

him. Frederic doesn't seem to help, he looses his smile. The
man gets up, gets his face closer to Frederic and gives him
a stare and leaves.

Frederic is feeling insecure now. He starts noticing girls

laughing beside him, couples kissing...

He gets up and leaves.

He gets out of the theater and notices a huge crowd on the

streets. Everyone is surrounding a car/truck with men
standing on It in uniform announcing something. It is loud.
Frederic asks one of the guys.

FREDERIC
What is this?

GUY1
The war! They want men!

9 EXT. COUNTRYSIDE - NIGHT 9

Frederic is walking down a lonely road. It's a beautiful

view of the starry sky above him, dogs playing in the field.
He gets home.

10 INT. HOME - NIGHT 10

Frederic enters his house.

FREDERIC
Mother?

MOTHER

We hear a sound as if someone fell.

MOTHER (cont'd)
I'm okay!

Says as if someone asked.

MOTHER (cont'd)
(in the kitchen
coughing)
Come on, dinners ready.

He goes to the dining.
