        A)  Attention-getter: Why is corporal punishment as a way of discipline for


children a problem?

          B)  Statement of main idea: There are many negative consequences associated
with corporal punishment as a way to discipline children.

          C)  Preview of support: Some of these consequences are that it teaches children
that violence is a good way to deal with issues, corporal punishment does not teach
children why their behavior was wrong and it makes children have a bad self-esteem by
making them feel sad, worthless or ashamed.

II)  Body
A) Major Support #1: Teaches children that violence is a good way to deal with
issues.
                                1)   Minor Support #1: As children grow they will think corporal
punishment is normal and it may cause problems in school and in their life in the future
in general.
                                2)   Minor Support #2: When children encounter a problem with
someone and get frustrated, the first thing they would do is solve that problem with
violence.
       
          B)   Major Support #2: corporal punishment does not teach children why their
behavior was wrong.
                                1)   Minor Support #1: Parents need to give their children the tools
on how to do things the right way.
                                2)   Minor Support #2: Since the parents are not teaching what’s
wrong with their behavior the child is most likely to keep repeating an unwanted
behavior.

          C)   Major Support #3: Children will have a bad self-esteem by making them feel
sad, worthless or ashamed.
                                1)   Minor Support #1: For example, my little brother did not know
how to tie his shoes and my dad’s solution was using violence against him which got my
brother more frustrated and sadder.
                                2)   Minor Support #2: this type of punishment does not teach
children how to do things right and instead it makes them feel even more ashamed
because they think something is wrong with them.
                
III)  Conclusion
          A)  Restatement of main idea: Corporal punishment is a negative way to teach
children on how to properly behave and this brings many negative consequences.
          B)  Review of support: Some of these negative consequences are that teaches
children that violence is a good way to deal with their issues, it does not teach them why
their behavior was wrong and children will have a bad self-esteem making them feel
bad.
          C)  Smooth ending: Corporal punishment can turn into serious physical abuse
and should not be practice and taught to children.
