How can prejudices and

ignorance impact
communication and
productivity in the
workplace?
Within knowledge,
skills and attitudes
come values like
respect, openness,
listening, critical
thinking,
sociolinguistic
awareness, and more.
Question #2

In The Office’s episode, one of

the characters says: “We believe
that 99% of the problems in the
workplace arise simply out of
ignorance.” Do you agree with
these statements? Why?
We know ignorance can highly
affect communication, especially
if it is cultural ignorance

"THAT'S WHY YOU NEED TO BE A HERO"

Examples on how ignorance can affect intercultural
communication:
In the US and Switzerland are places where it’s common
for women & men to speak loudly while in the Middle
East, it is forbidden for women to speak out of turn.

impartiality as an
essential value to face

human beings. Do you
agree? Why?
Impartiality is:

An ethical obligation

Important for intercultural competence

Question #4

According to what you observed

in the videos, what are the
risks of not having in mind the
individual identity, the
cultural configuration, and the
social framework of your
coworkers?
Conclusion

The risks of not having an individual identity, the

cultural configuration and social framework, can raise
bad prejudices on workers and this can create conflicts
among workers, so it can create a rough environment in
the job area, so we need to have these values at work
to create a great environment to have better results of
all coworkers and the business.
